Rep Power: 22 | | | Survived another weekend The weekends are always the hardest time to behave! But I made it through another one without undoing all my hard work. I took Saturday off from walking and working out. Just caught up and some school work and stuff. Last night Matt and I took a nice long walk. And I just got back from spending an hour at the gym (which is still crazy, by the way. I had to get angry with a girl who ERASED my name from the sign-up board and TOOK MY TREADMILL!) I ate some Doritos last night, which is the first bit of junk food I've had in two weeks. I feel sort of guilty about it. But I only ate a little bit and I'm trying to keep reminding myself that I have to live with the fact that I'm occasionally going to eat Doritos. It's not something I planned to cut out of my diet, so there are going to be times in my life when I'm gonna eat a handful of Doritos and it's not gonna kill me. I decided in the beginning that baked corn chips are fine EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, but potato chips are out. Anyway, I'm done beating myself up about it. They didn't betray me to the scale, luckily! I'm at 167 now! Which means that I've at least accomplished my weight goal for this month. I would like to see 165 by the end of the month, and I think it's quite possible. We'll see how it goes. It's nice when you have a reasonably small overall goal. I'm only trying to lose 20 lbs, which looks so much nicer when it's broken into 3-5 lbs per month! If I only lose 3 per month I'll be done in 7 months! And at 5 per month, that's just 4 months! The 3 lbs per month thing really works for me because I'm thinking long term here... It's easy to modify your lifestyle in a way that burns 3 lbs per month, but am I really going to be able to stick to a lifestyle that burns 7-10 lbs a month for the rest of my life? I know I can't.
Well, it's lunch time! I'm gonna make myself a spinach salad. Mmmmm! |

Rep Power: 0 | | I hear ya about hating the gym in January. I feel the same way. The gym I belong to added more cardio machines recently. It's good on one hand to have more machines but since the gym is still the same size, all these machinces are bunched up together.
Feel like I'm going to get bopped in the head at any momment!
It sounds horrible but every time I see a staff member giving someone the "tour" I cringe. |

Rep Power: 83 | | It's so good that you're able to see that you need to make life stlye changes you can live with for the long haul - I know I wouldn't want to give up dorittos forever.
Granted, I haven't had any since last may - but I know if I WANTED some, I'd have some - moderation is the key!
Good for you and congrats on those 3 pounds! |

Rep Power: 22 | | | Brrrr!!! It is sooooo cold out today. I had my first day at my community placement (which is at an HIV/AIDS centre) and the bus was late... leaving me waiting at the bus stop for almost 15 mins in the freezing cold. Made me quite sad. Anyway, now I'm home and have to leave again in 2 hrs to walk to school in the cold. Booo! So unfortunately, there will be no walk for me today. I was looking forward to going for a walk because I didn't get any exercise in yesterday. I suppose that's not entirely true... I did do about 40 mins of shovelling. Haha.
I'm hoping to weigh myself tomorrow. The batteries gave out in my scale about 2 months ago and I have yet to replace them. So the only time I get to weigh myself is at Matt's. I'm hoping I'm a little closer to 165! *crosses fingers* Everybody hope on my behalf! I've done very well with the food so far (no junk food since the Dorito incident and continuing with the small portions) but I could be doing better with exercise. Well, we'll see what the scale has to say about it all. I'm hoping to move that ticker! It looks as though I'm slacking off becuse the ticker doesn't move, but that's just because I rarely get to weigh myself. lol |

Think, you have to burn extra calories just trying to stay warm! And no, I'm NOT kidding! LOL!

gradual weight loss is the only perminant weight loss, so be proud that those 3lbs are perminant as long as you keep what your doing up ...
there are many ways to find different sources of exercise.... if you have to you could do exercises with soup cans, and using your own body as its resistance.... floor exercises are always good as well... every day counts! I noticed you live in canada, and thats probably why its too cold to go out and walk today... I used to run in place and watch tv, and sometimes do jumping jacks in between... when I didn't have a gym membership I would go in my garage and do pushups situps, bodyweight squats, I would lift objects in my garage.. that kind of stuff.... if theres a will theres a way! |

Rep Power: 22 | | | Still didn't get to weigh Did anyone realize I said I was probably only gonna write in this once a week? Haha. Looks like I'm a little more hooked than I had anticipated. Quote:

As I said before, I only make changes I know I can stick to for the long run. I'm happy with the progress I've made and will continue to make! And thanks for the home exercise tips.
I didn't get to Matt's place after (or to Wal-Mart for batteries!) so I didn't get to weigh myself today. I'm pretty sure I've lost a couple of pounds though. I'll get to see soon enough. I'm heading out in the cold again in a few mins to hit the gym. I'm posting my food for the day as well. Only breakfast & lunch have actually been eaten yet. The rest is what's planned for the rest of the day.
Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal w/ skim milk and a glass of apple juice
Lunch: Low cal Penne Pollo frozen dinner (which is surprisingly delicious) and a banana
Snack: mixed fresh fruit (peach, pear, strawberries, grapes)
Supper: Chicken quesidilla (whole wheat tortilla, grilled chicken, tomato, green & red pepper, jalapeno and salsa for dipping)
And of course, loads of water during the day as usual. |

Rep Power: 22 | | | It's the weekend! I'm so glad it's Friday! I have no plans for the weekend, which is kind of sad, but it's nice to know it's the weekend just the same. Haha.
I had an AWESOME workout yesterday at the gym. I haven't done any exercise yet today other than walking to school and back (I don't count that toward my exercise goal because I do it everyday anyway, so it's not new). But Matt and I will probably be going for a walk later this evening. Even if we don't, I'm going to the gym tomorrow anyway, so I still won't be breaking my exercise rules. STILL no weigh-in I'll definitely have a number for you tomorrow! That's a promise. Hopefully a smaller number. lol
Here's my food for the day:
Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal & a glass of cran-grape juice
Lunch: Smoked turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread
Snack: Granola bar & apple
Supper: Spaghettini with mushroom & garlic sauce, sprinkled with cheddar cheese
Tons of water, as always.
Fridays are a bad food day for me because I don't get out of school until 4:15. But I didn't do too badly. |

Rep Power: 22 | | Thank you I'm trying my best.
I said I'd have a number for you today and I do... 166! Only 1lb lost since last time, which I'm sort of sad about. But that's still 1lb closer to my goal. I'm so excited about getting to change that ticker. Haha I managed to get out for a nice long walk last night and I'm heading to the gym in a couple hours. I'll post my foods later this evening. |
