We have been through that on a personal level though with one of hubby's sisters.
10 years ago, we were watchin' the 10PM news and the lead story was about a woman who was found shot between the eyes in Dallas.
They showed the woman in body bag bein' wheeled into the hospital.
The news reported it was over past due drug payments and that she ended up takin' more than her share at the last drug deal.
The next day we found out it was his sister Pam.
What a horrible day that was. The creepy feeling stuck with us for the longest time knowing we saw her in the body bag on the news.
The family had always tried to help her of course, but she was a grown woman and couldn't be forced.
She left behind 3 kids and all of us...
For the longest time Daves parents received death threats bc once they were on t.v. askin' for help in finding the killer, they found out their address/phone # and wanted Pams debts paid.
It was a nightmare for 3 years.
They never found the killer.
Hubby's parents had to move to stop all that. |

You see so much awful stuff on the news every single day, if you choose to watch it.
None of it really means much to me anymore. I'm so conditioned to it that I sort of glaze over.
But when it happens to a friend of family member...... you snap back to reality. It's so hard to accept that one person feels the right to take another's life.
When I was a kid, growing up, one of my neighborhood friends was pulling out of my yard on his dirtbike. He pulled out in front of a car full of older guys. They yelled crap at my friend, Adam.
Adam being Adam flipped them the middle finger and proceeded to drive away.
Little did he know, but the one guy had stepped out of the car with a gun.
Show Adam square in his back. He died 100 or so yards down the street from my house. |

I tell ya, it just gets worse and worse.
The past 5 years have really been crazy all over the place with families killing families - precious babies bein' dumped off/killed - child abuse - school shootings - and so on..
It makes me more and more thankful we only have and will always have just one kid.
I worry enough just about him on a daily basis.. |

Rep Power: 89 | | I'm really sorry to hear about your old friend. That is horrible--just as Stacy's SIL's death.
About this sybian thing, I think a pic of it needs to be posted here in Steve's diary. Being the innocent that I am, I have no idea what a sybian looks like. |

Rep Power: 182 | | | I actually at home right now.
However, I was up at the butt-crack. I had to go into the city as a dear friend of mine is having a pretty big surgery today. She has a cyst on her liver which is close to her heart..... 3-4 hour procedure. I went down to be with her before she went in. Her mom and her father and his wife (divorced) were there and I could tell she needed some humor to lighten the mood. I'm glad I went.
I'll probably be going back down 1-2 more times this weekend.
I also have a wedding tonight and a thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. I know, strange, but I have a very large family and if we don't do it this weekend, some of the family doesn't get to see us, so they traditionally have it the weekend prior. |
