A couple of years ago I was watching the Oprah Winfrey show with Bob Greene. Oprah was saying how she would stop by every counter in the food court and order something. And when it was time to go to slep she'd pass out. And waking up was a disaster.
At my highest weight I couldn't even sleep. I do think I suffered from sleep apnea although I have never been diagnosed with it. I remember waking up from not being able to breathe.
Well, it's been a couple of weeks into my diet now and I am happy to say that has all changed. I now sleep when I go to bed and wake up very energized and rejuvenated.
Hi Ashanta,
You know - that sleep thing is HUGE - it took me a long time to realize how much better I am sleeping since some of the weight has come off! I don't wake up, don't toss and turn (I used to wake up and reach to the headboard to "help" turn myself over!)
so this week i had a family emergency and although i did workout 5 days this week, i ate just terribly. the amazing thing is I DIDN'T GAIN AN OUNCE!!
For example here is what I ate on Friday (i'm not kidding!!):
4c skim milk(320cal); grapefruit(80cal); 10 oreos(533cal); seafood salad hero(600cal); burger king spicy chicken meal w/ fries and coke -no way, hon, not diet-(1280cal); pastrami subway with provolone(300cal)
UKH gross i know..
And that was only Friday!! ALL week I have been eating pringles, oreos, hershey's chocolates.. non-stop. And that was in addition to my fruits, veggies, yogurt and milk. I thank God because it is truly a miracle I didn't gain any weight.
Hey Ashanta,
STAND BACK - MOVE AWAY FROM THE FAT FOOD WINDOW!
(Does that help?)
Seriously, only you can answer yourself, do you want to lose weight? Are you ready to make the changes that will help you reach your goal?
It's good you didn't gain weight, and there is nothing wrong (and probably healthy in the long run) to cycle up calories - but try to do it with good food - and oreos don't count
You CAN do this - but only you can make it a priority!
I’m in One-derland!! Yay! But I’m not making it official until this Sunday when I take measurements and pics for this diary.
The Good:
• More energy although eating less cuz food is healthy loaded with vitamins and minerals.
• My old denims are falling off
• For the first time actually caught myself subconsciously looking in the mirror. And I’m beginning to use a full length mirror
• Not losing hair- the best thing!!
The bad:
• Still can't cross my legs
Next goals:
1. 40 - 60 lbs
2. Cleansing detox
3. Following the diet with no more binging(this will be hard but have to do it)
4. Get a ride to work and walk back
5. Workout 5 to 7 days a week(I’ve only been doing it for about 3 or 4 a week)
Plans after this next goal, maintenance:
1. Hire a trainer
2. Continue mostly vegandiet (I’m originally Mediterranean so this will be easy) which will be at least 75% natural foods with no more than 5 oz meat/fish per day- eat more calories to build up muscle mass
3. Workout every day
4. Do mostly outdoor activities
5. Monitor weight/body composition daily
