UncoverBeauty's Journey Home

Hello all!

I've tried many diets in the past and finally came to a point in my life where I wanted to actually lose this weight before I hit my 20's. (I'm 17). I've decided to take a new plan of attack and change my entire life instead of nit pickingly going through and saying "can't eat this, forget that, that's out!", somedays I don't even eat enough (or I forget to eat) so teaching myself to eat smaller healthier meals a day is going to be a challange, since food nearly scares me to death as it is.

I'm aiming to lose 83 pounds. I weigh 283 right now and would love to get down to 200. It doesn't seem like much, as far as BMI and healthy weights go, but I just want the bulk of it off and if it takes me the next 5 years to get below 200, then be it, I'll deal with that when the time comes, but for right now, this 83 pounds has to go!

I'd like to lose 30 pounds in the next 3.5 months, which is going to be a challange for me, but after those 30 come off, I'll be at 255 and then I'll work on taking another 30 pounds off in 4 months (or 3, all depending on how fast it goes), which brings me up to 225. After I reach 225, I'll do one heck of a mighty happy dance and work on getting those 25 pounds off. And now that I've figured that all out, it may take me longer or shorter, but I'd imagine 10 pounds a month is sort of pushing the limate, so I wont try for more really.

I go to the gym...well I should say, I'm a member at a gym, they're getting my 36$ a month and I'm at home eating away all my reasons for not going. Ha! But I've started going again, yesterday was the first time I've gone in about a month, but I'm going again this morning sometime.

Yesterday I walked 16.30mins at 3.0 and a 2% incline. Then I did weight lighting (on my lower half) for about 15 mins, and headed over to the elliptical (I've got to say, I hated it at first in September, but I adore it now!) and did 5mins.

My plan of action for today is to walk the treadmill for 10mins, weight lift, then head over and do the ellipitical for 15/20 mins since that burns more calories then a treadmill, and I find it more fun and interesting then a 'mill.

Gradually over time, I'll even out my time with the treadmill and the ellipitcal so I don't short change myself.

I think my goal of 200 pounds and 30 pounds every 3.5 months is a realistic goal, if I work at it and actually give it my full dedication. I think my eating habits may set me back, but I eat rather healthy as it is, so I need to cut out the sugary substances and I should be pretty set.

I hope everyone is doin' a fantastic job on their goals and I know I'll be sitting right beside you in the end going "We did it!!!!!"

=d

I'm trying to stay between 1,200 and 1,400 until I get settled into a groove of exercising and eating right. I'll be comfortable anywhere between those two, but I'd like to stay on the 1,200/1,300 end. Which, is going to be hard for me, since my body is used to starvation mode, due to the fact that I have some stomach problems and sometimes days on end I just can't eat over 1,000 calories, if that. So I'm trying to get it all straightened out, find foods that I can eat, and stick to a set amount instead of jumping all over the place.

yeah they are good calorie amounts. sometimes though jumping around (slightly) can be good though because it stops the metabolism from reducing its working rate to your new calorie intake.
how long has it taken to lose the two pounds?

I first weighed myself on Monday at 283 and then I weighed myself this morning at 281, so about 4 to 5 days. (Which I'm sort of surprised, considering having your period usually makes you weigh more) and I started going to the gym (again) yesterday and I went today =D

Roar! It's a Saturday, which means either keep busy and try not to eat alot, or eat everything in the house and try making excuses about it. I think I'm going to go with choice number 1. Usually we get Tony's for dinner (Pizza take out) I think I'll settle for a ham sandwhich and maybe something else to go with it, depeding on how many calories I eat before hand today.

Yesterday:: I went to the gym and did 15mins on the ellipitcal and 15mins weight training.

Today & Sunday:: I'm going to try to find something to do around the house that burns calories, since the gym is open till 11am and usually packed on weekends, and to be honest, other people make me uneasy, so I'll stick to the gym during the week and invent something creative to do on the weekends.

Monday:: I decided that the treadmill really bores me, but that I still need to do it, so I think I'll do 5mins on the treadmill, go to weight room (its a women only weight room and has an exercise bike in there), and I'll do 10mins on the bike, then lift those weights!, and then head out to the ellipitcal for about 10/15 mins. By then I should feel like jello, but feel great!

I'm also cutting out pop, unless I go to a fast food place/resturant but thats ONLY once a week IF I happen to go to one, if I don't go, there aren't any excuses to say "Well, I said I could have 1 pop", cause that's not happening!!

I love Arby's, that's the only place I can really eat meat w/out feeling icky. But an entire order of food runs a lot of calories, so IF I happen to go, I'll either get a sandwhich and something none greasy/none fried to go with it or just get it by itself. But if I do want fries, then I'll order them by themselves and find something else not fried, or I'll get a salad. Fried foods are bad, but I'll be honest with myself, I can't eat them normally, and I rarely do eat them, so when I do, I'll at least not add another 500/600 unneeded calories along with it!

No more candy/cakes/sweets unless there was one made. (Like, say for Valentines day, my mother is making a brownie cake, I'll have a piece, but I'll make sure it fits in with my calories) I just can't run out to the store and go "Ooh look Cake!!!I'm going to buy it and eat it!" or make the cake myself whenever I feel like it then eat it. I'll cut back on it and only eat it here and there.

great idea to cut out the fizzy drinks beauty. i read somewher that people who drink sugary drinks compared to people who drink water (say if they had exactly the same diet and food intake apart from fluids) would be drinking in something like 20 pounds worth of fat per year .. not too sure whether that figure is right .. it was a long time ago i read it but thats still excess weight whatever that could be easily done without
so good for you!

I felt the same at first, it seemed like it was a one-sided thing, but it is your diary, and it's easier to track stuff if you type it up. =)

Congrats on those 2 lbs lost!!!! Look forward to seeing you around the forum!

Woah...20lbs from soda!?! I'm going to try looking that up and seeing, I believe that you can gain fat from it, but 20lbs seems like an aweful lot. (but who knows, could be true)

Thank you photocrazed!! I'm going to wonder over to your journel soon =P

Saturdays update:: Ookay, so I caved in and got a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with mozzeralla sticks. *looks at the floor* er, well, I got them because I skipped the soda bit. And I just happen to like them! Yeh yeh, they're bad for me, I know, but that's a Saturday night thing, not every Saturday either, just here and there. But anyway, I got that and for breakfast I had a yogurt and a gronola bar, but that was around 7am so by 11am I was kinda hungry again, so I ate another gronola bar. But all the calories came to 1,411. Which is high, but it's only 11 over my higher end of 1,400. In my own opinion, I think I did rather well considering any other Saturday I would have just totally pigged out!

Today:: I have no idea what I'm going to eat today. But I'd like to add some veggies and stay below 1,3500 =D

well 1411 calories isn't a lot considering your current weight so you don't have to worry. i have 224 pounds and according to calculations i shouldn't be going over 1650 calories a day. try Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople or FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal or find posts by wishes, in her sugnature there is a link to her site and i'm telling you you're going to love it. it helped me a lot. take time to read it..the woman did lost 110 lbs so...
i'm really happy for you for making this decision to lose weight
i wish you all the best! Lena

Thank you for the comment!!!
I've used Fitday since the 6th? grade I believe, but I found it irritating sometimes. I use it still when I need to look up something, but I don't follow it really. I looked up Wishes website and it was very insightful and helpful =D

Today was a good day food wise so far. I had a yogurt with a gronolla bar this morning (340 cals) and then later on I had 8 club crackers and some canned spray cheese (230) and then I just had a big salad with light ranch dressing (70cals) (Btw, does anyone ever get used to light dressings?! I've tried it before and just couldn't do it, I was okay this time..sorta) I put some shredded chedder cheese, some hatfield bacon (Done in the microwave, came out with a lot less calories that way), and some crutons. My entire day so far has come to around 850 calories!! And I'm stuffed, lol.
