| | | So I just got back from having dinner with my friend a few minutes ago. She's really behind my diet, and suggested that we walk to the Fargo instead of getting a ride. I thought that was a great idea. We had a nice relaxing 15 minute walk to the bar and just talked about the events of the week. On our way there, we ran into one of the admissions officers and got to chatting with her and her husband...the place where my school is located is so small, that it's not even considered a town, it's a village and living in a village gives you the opportunity to run into everyone and to have everyone know you. It's both a curse and blessing at the same time.
Dinner
Chicken spinach wrap w/wasaabi dressing - 320 calories
- grilled chicken, spinach, onions, and wasaabi dressing wrapped in a
red pepper tortilla. Served w/corn chips and a pickle slice.
The wrap was really tasty and filling. I had 8 corn chips from an entire pile and drank 2 glasses of water. I was full by the end of it. My friend and I called it an evening and walked back to our dorms. I'm still pretty full as it is, but when I entered my calories into fitday, it came out to only 1218 calories eaten for the day. I'll most likely have a banana before going to bed to up the calories. I don't know what's up, I guess I'm just not as hungry as I used to be. Even with the brownies I ate today, it wasn't enough to even put me remotely over the edge. Who would have thought that with being on a diet, I'd be struggling to get more food inside of me

| | | I played volleyball today for the first time in a few months and it was going well until the folks refereeing the game decided to put up a new set of rules and not tell my team about it. Can someone explain to me how it's logical that a game is listed as following rally scoring rules, but the opposing team "beats" us by a point??? I was really pissed off.
I hate it when I'm playing clean, and the team that's blatantly cheating sits there and is rewarded for it. To top things off, the refs said that they'd deduct points because we were displaying bad sportsmanship for calling them on their shoddy work. This is the reason why I don't engage in intramural sports, the so called refs they have never know the rules for the games that they're supposed to be officiating. Next week is basketball, I haven't played that in a few months either, but the jump shot is still there. I plan on printing out the rules and giving it to each of the refs, just so they know what's up.
My day just keeps getting better and better. I've got to work tonight from 11:30 - 3:30am. It's going to be so much fun (note sarcasm). Thank goodness spring break is almost here. I need a break, and bad. I'm sorry this post was such a downer, I'm actually not a negative person, but things like this just find a way of erking me so much. Alright, rant over. |

| | | Hey everyone,
I'm feeling much better than yesterday. I'm just nursing the meanest case of court burn on my knee right now. I'm using some neosporin on it, but it's still at that rehealing stage where it hurts to bend my knee. I should be doing work, but I'm just being a lazy bum. I figure I'll do half of it tonight, and finish the rest up tomorrow. My photography professor is overloading us with too many assignments at once and it's hard juggling all of them especially since I've got other classes I have to do work in.
Today was a regular lazy Sunday. Didn't do much but sleep all day. But I'm actually ready to head on back to the gym and begin this new weight training regimne I found online. If you're interested, here's the website Strength Training Exercises - Weight Training Exercises For Each Muscle
I've also been messing around over at the prevention.com website with their my virtual model prototype. It's fun to tinker with because it let's you see your weight loss progress and it can also project what you may look like once you've hit your goal weight. Judging from my virtual model, my goal weight may be 5lbs too light. She was looking a little scrawny and I do like my curves. So I think I may just reset my goal to 150 instead of 145.
Besides all of this, here's how my day has gone eating wise.
Breakfast
1 omelette - 175 calories
1 small bowl of grits w/ 1% milk - 154 calories
1 wedge cantaloupe - 19 calories
1 wedge honeydew - 44 calories
1 small dab cottage cheese - 30 calories
Lunch
1 tuna sandwich - 329 calories
Snacks
3 celery sticks - 2 calories
4 carrot sticks - 5 calories
2 yogurt covered pretzels - 38 calories
plain yogurt with almond granola - 196 calories
Dinner
3 baked cod fillets - 342 calories
asian noodles - 168 calories
12 glasses of water drunk for the day so far.

| | | Thanks happychubbette and daiseeangel. It's nice to have people rooting for me. I don't know about having a lot of energy, but I do try and keep myself busy for a majority of the time. To be honest, I spend more of my time napping than anything else. As for looking awesome, I still think that I pretty much look the same. |

| | | Boy do I love sparkpeople. I just started using it, and I gotta say, I'm digging it a lot more than fitday. They actually have the types of foods I eat over there, and I love the fact that it tells me exactly how many calories I need to be eating, as well as the amount of carbs, proteins and fat that I should have on a daily basis. It sure makes this whole life style change a lot easier to manage. I wonder why it took me so long to get on the sparkpeople train?
Anyhoo, I went to the gym today and did 55 minutes of weight training. My right knee is still recovering from the gnarly court burn I suffered playing volleyball on Saturday, so I decided to focus on my upper body instead. I worked out the big muscles; my back and biceps for about 40 minutes, and the final 15 minutes saw me concentrating on my smaller muscles like my triceps, and I also got in a couple shoulder excercises. All and all, I did pretty well following this new weight training program. Hopefully, by Wednesday my knee will have healed up to a point where I can work on my legs, hamstrings, glutes and the like.
Tomorrow, I've got 1 hour of cardio scheduled. I'm hitting up the treadmill, stairclimb and elliptical (or is it the arc trainer??). I'm planning on doing some interval training, and I may attempt 10 minutes of HIIT. Wish me luck on that one.
Food intake for the day:
Breakfast
1 egg white - 17 calories
1 bowl oatmeal w/1% milk - 136 calories
2 slices whole wheat toast w/ 2 tbs cream cheese & 1 tbs honey - 245 calories
3 oz soy milk - 40 calories
Snack
1 large banana - 125 calories
Lunch
1 turkey salad on wheat bread - 288 calories
2 yogurt covered pretzels - 38 calories
Dinner
1 serving beef stir fry - 248 calories
4 yogurt covered pretzels - 76 calories
1 bowl crispex w/1% milk - 190 calories

Rep Power: 22 | | So glad to hear about the 5 lb loss! What's this virtual model thing? Can you actually make a little model of yourself to see what you'll look like at a certain weight? I'm gonna go to the website you mentioned and check out this crazy notion!
You're doing so well with the food and the activity. Keep up the good work. I hope your knee heals up soon. Court burn is nasty. |

| | | | oh happy day My knee is feeling a lot better, and the court burn is healing up nicely. I still can't get back on the treadmill yet because of the location of my injury, but I did do a lot of low impact exercises today. Got on the ellipitical and the treadmill and did 1 hour 15 minutes of cardio. But I probably only did an hour 5 minutes. I have to account for all the pee breaks I took, and the time I spent chatting with some friends that work over there. According to the two machines, I managed to burn almost 800 calories through exercise alone. Go me.
Haha, I needed those extra calories worked off as I cheated a bit today. It was a really busy day, and I was stuck in a meeting for most of the time. They had chocolate chip cookies and I ended up having 3 . But I didn't feel bad about it at all because when I put in all of my foods eaten for the day in the nutrition section of sparkpeople.com, I had only consumed 1,655 calories out of my max allowable calorie intake of 1720. I also came in at consuming the right levels of fats, carbs, and proteins. Hurrah, after barely being able to get in 1,200 calories the week before, I finally started getting some substantial food intake. I'm feeling good, and I know that tomorrow will be even better.
Breakfast
1 whole wheat toast w/ cream cheese - 91 calories
1 bowl multigrain cheerios w/ 1% milk - 188 calories

1 cup special K w/ 1% milk - 190 calories
Dinner
8 oz. roast turkey breast - 236 calories
100 g. mashed potatoes - 77 calories
Snacks
1 caramel rice cake - 80 calories
1 apple - 63 calories
1 orange - 45 calories
3 chocolate chip cookies - 177 calories

Rep Power: 21 | | Your menu is fabulous! A question, probably ranging in the stupid side of the spectrum, what is HIIT? |
March 7th, 2007, 02:00 PM
| | | Iwan, H.I.I.T stands for high intensity interval training. It's interval training on speed. The work out is intense, and when I'm done with it, I feels as though my lungs are going to explode. I only do it once a week because of all the energy it requires. Plus, when you're done, you're too tired to even wanna do anything else. |

| | | Just got out of photography class. I'm beat, but I still have my spanish literature course to hit up next. I worked out today, no cardio just weight training. Concentrated on my legs and abs. The injured knee was doing alright until I accidentally knocked it against one of the weight machines. That put me out of commission, so I packed it up. Not to worry, I managed to get in 50 minutes of a good exercise.
Today has been interesting so far. I was messing around on google looking something up, when I happened to run into this website What Does 200 Calories Look Like?. It basically shows you how much food you need to consume in order to get in 200 calories. I'm a visual learner, so seeing this actually put my old eating habits into prospective. Check out the site, it was a real learning experience.

| | | Afternoon everyone.
I just woke up from the most delicious nap ever and I'm debating whether or not to head on back to bed. Oh well, the weekend is almost here, so I'll have plenty of time to sleep in and be a lazy bum. I had a good day today. Who would have thought I'd feel flattered by everyone laughing at the fact that my pants no longer fit me properly, even with a belt on. I'm not complaining. I'm enjoying.
Spring Break is almost here, and I'm getting nervous. My family hasn't seen me since Jan. 29th, so they don't know that I've lost a bit of weight. I'm both excited and a bit nervous about how they'll react because although they encouraged me to lose weight, when I was at my thinnest (160) my parents would be like, "you're getting too skinny, you need to eat something." So I took their advice, and we know how that ended; with me gaining 54lbs!!! I think I'm more into seeing and hearing what their reaction will be. It'll be fun because they don't know that I've been working out and have changed my eating habits. I'll update you guys on everything once I get back to Brooklyn.
Breakfast
1 bowl Cream of Wheat - 116 calories
1 slice toast w/jelly - 96 calories
1/2 medium banana - 54 calories
1 cup nonfat milk - 86 calories
Lunch
1 serving grilled chicken cesar salad w/ranch dressing - 168 calories
1 baked potato w/ 5 tbs of salsa - 102 calories
0.5 oz of tortilla chips - 71 calories
Dinner
1 serving grilled chicken cesar salad w/ranch dressing - 168 calories
2 oz. vanilla yogurt - 50 calories
20 grams of pasta - 28 calories
Snack
1/2 Power Bar - 144 calories
1 small orange - 45 calories
Trail Mix - 150 calories (but I'm not sure about this one. It said that there are about 3 servings in the bag, so does that mean that there is a total of 150 calories per bag, or that per serving, there is a total of 150 calories??? Any ideas folks)

Rep Power: 22 | | | Hmm... I'm not sure about the trail mix. I think the calorie info would be there per serving. So, I'd say it's 150 cals per serving.
It'll be exciting for your family to see you looking all good! I'm eager to hear how it goes. Congrats on your pants no longer fitting. It's a good feeling, but it also sucks when you really love the pants. lol My favorite dress pants no longer fit, which I'm semi-bummed about but also VERY happy! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
