Hi Mr T,

I do think you are too young to diet - but I don't think you are too young to eat healthily, to cut out the rubbish a lot of us eat or to do more exercise. No-one is too young for that. And if this forum helps you get into healthier habits, well good.

Personally I don't think you should set weight targets, I think you should just have fun improving your health, and if you keep it up, you will no doubt keep your weight from increasing whilst you grow taller.

I tend to agree not to diet at such a young age. My parents had tried sticking me on diets after diets as I grew up and that really impaired my judgement of food and over whelmed me (not to say it doesn't work, but as a kid/young teenager it gets hard).

Your plan of exercising and just eating healthy all together is a great plan, changing your life style is easier then sticking to a diet, in my opinion.

Good luck and visit often =D

Well...

I didnt mention a diet did I?And my only goal is to get to the average part of the BMI chart...My BMI score right now is like 27.5 or sumthing...and thats not good....I mean 23 would be nice....Its not because of my appearnce so much...which is why ppl often chose to lose weight...but because I realize I cant do the same things as other kids my age..cant run as long/far ..jump as high..or move with the same agility...and what makes me care the most is that I know I used to be able to do these things..I just want to be the way I was as a kid...Ok=) now I must leave...ill try to be on often but not for long...I dont think the computer chair provides much exercise..

If you have healthy snacks, you will build up your metabolism. The way you are going, your body will be starving. This is not a diet. You said you wanted to eat healthy, and eating several small meals a day is healthy and the best way to lose weight. Especially when you are adding exercise. Being a guy, this shouldn't be hard for you.
When I was a teen, I lost 35 lbs doing this and was very healthy. No diets what so ever. That's just my two cents. Also make sure that breakfast is your biggest meal of the day, and dinner is your smallest. Good luck!

Hi Mr T,

hey I was agreeing with you that dieting at you age isn't healthy. I was on diets from the age of 5 months, and have had a range of fall out from that to deal with, so I couldn't agree with you more. Healthy eating, now that's different.

hey tubby - glad to have you here - it's never too early to start a plan of healthy eating - makes it a lot easier when you're grown and out on your own.

PLease involve your parents or guardians in your plan and make sure they know what you are doing... The internet is full of information on weight loss, not all of it healthy... But you sound like you're taking care of business the right way.

We're glad to have you here and ask any questions that come up.

Good luck on getting to where you want to be..
