Rep Power: 304028 | | | The Biggest Loser: Did They Keep It Off Did anyone see the Biggest Loser--Did They Keep It Off? last night (9/5)?
Some of the stories were really inspirational, but I found the girl whose lost the most weight (by body fat %) in the series' history was so rude. She was trying to be funny but she kept saying how disgusting she was when she was heavy and basically made it seem like she was worthless before her weight loss. That was insulting to the audience, especially those who are overweight. I mean she must know overweight people are watching this show with special interest.
What did you all think of the show?

What did you all think of the show? | I watched about 10min of it, but didn't see that part. I can't blame her. I was disgusted with myself at my high weight. I was disgusted that i let myself get to that point. I didn't feel worthless as a person, but definitely disgusted with how I looked. Even now I feel that way a bit--but i am happy that I'm finally doing something about it. I think just about everyone who's been in that type of situation gets disgusted with themselves--it's natural once you make the decision to lose the weight. When I think about my mindset over the 6yrs that I put all the weight on, it was pretty sad--a woman full of self-doubt, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, stress, hopelessness etc. Now I feel soo much better and healthier. So yeah, I can understand how she feels disgusted with her former self. That's not to say that fat people should feel worthless. But I don't know anyone who doesn't look back on their before photos after losing a lot of weight without feeling a bit disgusted at how they used to look--and proud of how they've changed their life for the better.

Rep Power: 55480 | | | Yup... actually Sean went and Tevo'd it for me. (What a good husband.) I watched it and I was wondering when they were going to replace their first host. I don't know, but it's a bit pot calling the kettle black when you're hosting a show about weight loss and you keep putting on weight throughout the seasons. The new host seems a bit umm... how shall I put it lightly... ummm airhead-ish.
As the girl from NJ, I guess when you're a "comedian" you feel the need to be funny all the time. Unfortunately for her, she came across as being the totally opposite: horribly boring and stale. (I could come up with better material sitting on the crapper and losing a pound or two.) I mean, good on her for losing a hundred pounds on her own, but yah.... she didn't really think before saying things.
As for being disgusted with myself at 225... honestly, I wasn't. If anything, I was happy and well, guys still wanted to jump my bones. It wasn't a problem really. hahaa! (Me and my big ol' ass.. oww, mami!) If anything, I was a bit down on myself because I couldn't keep up physically with a lot of other people, especially my niece and nephew. That's when things began to change. That's just my personal experience of course.

Rep Power: 357932 | | I personally cannot stand the show and I've never been able to watch more than 5 minutes at any given time... it really portrays an unrealistic view of weight loss... very few people have the ability to take umpteen weeks out of their lives and devote themselves to 8 hours a day of exercise and having someone watch what tthey eat. There've been a bunch of articles posted about the 'tricks' the contestants do to put up higher numbers - for what -- better ratings? the average person doesn't lose 10 lbs in one week -healthily...
Although the few minutes of the show I have seen do seem to portray overweight people as whiney babies - make 'em work just a little bit and wind them up ad watch them whine -that other show Fat Walk is no better - What exactly did these people think they were signing up for? or do whiney people get better ratings? sure explains seinfeld's popularity...
as for the "disgusted with herself" read a lot of posts here - and you'll read people at 150lbs or 140lbs or even less - bitching about what 'cows' they are... these people are starting from where i'm trying to get to... so when i get to that weight i suppose I will still be a 'cow' - it's all a matter of perception... and where people see themselves at any given time... and it really shouldn't have a bearing on how we see ourselves...

That said, I was ticked/saddened to hear that many former contestants became personal trainers. A coworker told me this. Is that true? |

Additionally. if, when you don't know an answer or can't converse on the subject matter (all while holding yourself out there as an expert) and resort to saying, "Steve's so mean," simply b/c I'm asking valid questions, not only are you NOT an expert.... you're also pathetic, irrational, and moronic. |

I just wanted to further stress my point that I dislike a lot about that show.
The only thing I like is that a small group of people get to change their lives. That's great for them. But unfortunately, there are a lot of negatives associated with the show that offset the few positives. |

Rep Power: 304028 | | | That's interesting about the BL contestant coming around here. Any recollection as to which one it was?
What I hate about the show is how its all about weight loss as opposed to fat loss, so some of the contestants wouldn't want to weight train to refrain from putting on any more weight. How foolish a concept!
I realize a lot of people come around talking about what a cow they are at 130 pounds and I do think people might want to exercise a bit more tact, depending on their target audience. Many of us have said to ourselves "I'm fat = I'm disgusting" but I think the girl on BL should have realized that by saying that about her own fat may be equated with saying it about someone else, and that is what I found rude (not the feelings, but just saying it so rudely and publicly after she's all slim).
