Rep Power: 7 | | i love the show. hollie was my favorite this season. i was kind of sad she didn't win (i hate the evil twins) but she looked hot at the finale. i thought it was kind of ironic though how she mentioned moving to LA to help her stay on track.
do people not realize that the contestants on that show work out at LEAST 3 hours a day? I guess if it was my full time job to live somewhere where they basically force you to work out for at least 3 hours a day, and all your food is delivered to the house and you just do some basic cooking and a nutritionist emails you if you get off track and you have a body bugg on your arm to track exactly how many calories you burned that day....idk it makes sense for them to lose 5-10 pounds per week. |

On the other hand, I worry about it setting up false hopes. The giant numbers they put up each and every week for example. Weight loss in the Biggest Loser Camp is a lot different than the real world.... and I could see where people might not recognize this and it could set up for some pretty harsh frustrations.
That said, what the finale says in a nutshell from my perspective is, people can stop saying, "I can't lose weight," "my body's different," "my hormones are screwed up."
It shows that in the end, hard work and consistency always trumps all. | When you train several hours a day and put yourself on a strict diet those are the results you get.
The difference being most people have jobs/kids/life in the way. The show most certainly represents what happens when you workout 2hrs a day and eat right though. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Im sure some of the incredible 1st week drops in weight is due to water loading. If you are going to weigh in for the first time, why not load up on water to ensure a large weight loss so that you don't get sent home the 1st week. |

I lost over 13 lbs my first week. Just because I was not working out at all before, was eating horribly, etc... then I tweaked everything, and wow, I've lost 21 lbs, and tomorrow, well actually today will be 2 weeks, so it can be done without water and all. I think it just depends on what you eat, and how hard you work. Again, no offense to you... Just my opinion from my experience so far. |

Rep Power: 0 | | No offense taken. Im just saying to lose 28lbs in a week is not feasible unless a lot of it is water. Maybe some of it was water they were naturally carrying, but that is a lot of water. Assuming it was all fat loss, that would be a 98000 calorie defecit in a week. That is a daily defecit of 14000 calories.
If they shed a gallon of water (weighs about 8.3 lbs) and lost 20lbs of body fat, that would still be a 9850 calorie daily defecit. It makes for good reality TV though. If they didn't post huge numbers the first week, I don't think they would hook as many viewers. Just my opinion. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
