Rep Power: 182 | | Any and everything works if applied consistently.
That's something people tend to forget when they get overwhelmed by fancy marketing.
There's nothing magic about P90x.
It's progressive overload of the muscles forcing you to get stronger and possibly bigger.
If it's not coupled with appropriate dieting/caloric deficit... it's not going to give you any results at all, assuming you're looking to get toned. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Proof that P90X Works!! Hi....I've been participating in P90X for 50 days now and the program is excellent. Below is a link to my Day 1 and Day 43 pics. I turned 40 in September and have struggled the last few years following my usual routine of weights and running to try to stay fit. My body just wasn't reacting the way it used to. I saw the infomercial and skeptically decided to give it a try. After 50 days I've lost 14lbs and 6% bodyfat. I'm stronger, more flexible, and have more energy than I have in years. I love it so much I recently became a coach and am working with 4 of my friends who are just starting the program. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions....I love to help people on this journey....

In the first sentence you say you want to focus on losing weight and then getting toned.
In the second sentence you say they go hand in hand.
Here's the thing:
Toning is a function of losing fat and maintaining muscle. Losing weight should never be the goal. Losing fat should be the goal. Losing weight without concern for muscle preservation isn't going to lead you to your goal.
So in a way, you're correct. Lifting weights and losing fat go hand in hand, and with that in mind, lifting weights should be a major component of your fat loss plan.
Does it have to be p90x?
Not at all.
Is p90x suitable to try?
Sure, if you'd like. |

I have not posted enough here to list a URL, but if you e-mail me at the address below I will send you a link to my pics and answer any questions: jerrymac@beachbodycoach.com
Jerry | Good stuff!
I think it's important to note, however, that you could accomplish these same results without the specific program issued by p90x. Progressive resistance training coupled with metabolic work and hypocaloric eating will lead to fat loss, increased stamina and strength and muscle maintenance. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Thank you Steve, i really appreciate your advise. i saw your photos and you know what you are talking about. and your are right, i does not have to be P90X if i am consistent in my exercise plan (cardio and weight lifting) i should get the results that i want.

Rep Power: 182 | | | You're quite welcome. I'm not certain, but I believe the beachbody representatives like the one above profit off of selling p90x... so it's hardly unbiased advice.
The stickies found here on this forum and on my own forum are loaded with unbiased useful advice. I'd suggest reading through both.
If you have specific questions after that, I'll gladly do my best to provide you an answer. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | what else is new I for one get tired of these new and improved drugs/supplements that come out. Not to say that some do not help but there is no cure all, one size fits all method that will work (just think about the "Your results will vary disclaimer that appears") |
