It's kind of sad when you think of how many men actually think that all women are supposed to look like Playboy sluts, er, models. What they don't realize is that 90% of those girls have had multiple plastic surgeries to look the way they do. And, even with all of the "work", 99% of them are still gross looking. BLEH!!!

I'll take a Kelly Clarkson over a Playboy model any day of the week.
someone has a crush on kelly clarkson!

It is funny because I never liked really short skirts. I was the chubby girl that dressed differently so I was the ''weird one'' but heck, at least I didn't look slutty! I've never had and I'll never will.
those dirty magazines just fasten the odd connection between little or none clothing and beauty-sexiness. I don't find those women appealing at all!

stancel has a reputation beyond repute
If you just want a peek into the minds of many of these people, you can go here.

it's too bad they don't realize they are not fat at all. one of the posters on there has a goal which would put her at a BMI of 16

why is everyone obsessed with trying to be the odd one out?

JoyAnderson is on a distinguished road
It all comes down to avoiding extremes. Being grossly underweight is as bad (in all ways) as over. Impressionable kids may not have realised this yet - that's the problem.

I don't really think it has to do with wanting to be the odd one out but the opposite, fitting in. and it is not restricted to impressionable young minds. we are growing in a toxic environment that promotes that you have to be skinny at all costs, not healthy, just very skinny. these people just thrive to be accepted in their society, I don't think they realize they are getting to one extreme as media (schools, people in general) almost never address the problems of being underweight, mostly just overweight.
they might not know that being that skinny can actually damage your health as much as the other opposite, and if they do they believe it is better or what everyone else want. they hear of anorexia and bulimia as something distant and their efforts as a way of gaining back control.

I guess it all comes down to a series of cultural, social, personal, psychological events among other things.

I noticed that in your signature, your goal weight is 115 lbs, with a BMI of 21. That means you're, what...5' 3" - 5' 4"?

Have you ever seen a 5' 3" person who weighs 115 lbs? They're super skinny. Isn't it a possibility that you're one of those people being influenced by our "toxic environment"...???

I'm just making an observation.

some people don't carry their weight as well as others though.

i am 5'2.5" and would not consider myself fat by any means at 125 lbs, but i just feel more comfortable at 115. i'm small height wise, but i'm not really petite by any means, so 115 lbs doesn't look super skinny on me. anything less than that though, my arms and legs get really thin, and i still carry weight around my waist and boobs...so i'd rather weigh a bit more and look proportionate with some muscle than be super wasting away skinny.

it all just depends on a persons body type and how they carry their weight. also just an observation...

search "pro-anorexia blogrings on xanga" and you'll come across a TON.

I've run into ones of girls swapping tips on how to starve themselves.
It's sad.

The difference between things like anoerxia and obese is that, very few obese people encourage others to get bigger. Lots of anorexia sufferers encourage each other to starve, swap tips, support one another ego wise into thinking they're too fat. One is a psychological problem [anorexia], one isn't so much [they both are, but for different reasons]. Ones easier to say is a huge problem vs the other.

[and I have my own problems with eating, so I'm not ragging on either or, I understand both sides, a lot]

That's true, but I have yet to see a 5' 3" 115 lb woman that hasn't been really skinny.

lol I am shorter than that I have a very small bone structure too.
as I am 1.56 meters, 115 lbs is 52 kg I think, just a couple of kilos below my height. I don't think that's extreme?
I hardly ever do the conversion from kilos to lbs, I am mexican so I tend to mess those up. I think around 120-125 is just as fine, I just want to be healthy, and I don't know why the question? seems a bit off. I am not thriving to be skinny just to get to a healthy weight as I am in risk of having diabetes- half my family from both sides have.

or something like that.

makes me want to throw some punches and knock some sense into people.

I just found a little bit of possible irony in your last post; talking about how people don't realize that they're going to an extreme, yet you want to get down to 115 lbs.

Like I said, I was just making an observation.
