Rep Power: 5 | | | The Anti Gym I heard about this while watching the People's Court on TV. I just had to Google it and show you guys!
On the one hand, I find it really funny and amusing, and on the other, I find it extremely offensive--both as a woman and being overweight. All I can really say is: Wow.
So here's two of their advertisements: hottie beer
And a news report done on it: Fox News LIVE - Anti-Gym
They didn't mention that there's women cage dancer to "encourage" the men to work out better......
And if you're still curious to see more: Anti-Gym – Denver Health Clubs, Personal Trainers, and Fad Diets Don’t Work!

Rep Power: 3 | | i definitely would not go a place like that. i just dont see how that would motive a fat person to get in shape. it would make me feel like crying and eating more ice cream. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Well the US Army uses the same tactics to get their soldiers in shape by humiliation. It works. Its not for everyone, but nobody is forcing them to go.Its a choice. If someone wants to pay someone to force them to get in shape so be it.If you dont like it, dont go, and dont watch the commercials.I dislike this guy, but i dislike complainers even more. |

Rep Power: 3 | | wow I have never heard of a commercial like that. How disgusting. I also watched the news story on the actual Anti- Gym. It looks so ridiculous. Where are the actual fat people in the gym? I didn't see them.
I think most sane people prefer to be left alone while exercising, or at least treated positively. Can you imagine if this is how people were treated if they went for a walk outside? I would be horrified if someone just started yelling Chubby and fat guy at me. |

Rep Power: 7 | | How very very sad. Why on earth would anyone want to create such a stressful and negative environment to motivate people in such a warped way?
Exercise and fitness should be fun, life long and positive. To me it would straight away make me think of exercise as a chore, not something to look forward to.
And I'm just not sure psychologically what it is going to achieve. Not something I would ever bother with.
I like to smile and have a good time when I'm getting fit. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | WOW! I hate it when trainers and people in general, get so obsessed with looks. Get sexy or get out oh pleassse. Everyone is different and not everyone is meant to be a stick! You can be a curve girl and be damn sexy! I know plenty of unhealthy skinny people, its time we start focusing on health and well being not SIZE. |

Rep Power: 3 | | | Love it This guy has a point, he really does. I mean he is possibly a little over-hyped about the whole being sexy thing vs. being healthy, but he is probably making serious bank with his controversial methods. He is making bank because he knows how to evoke emotions from people, he is literally giving them fuel by making them angry as they are made fun of, these people are remembering all the times people made fun of them or singled them out because of their weight. Bottom line, anger is a great source of work-out fuel, and this guy knows that.
But seriously what is so controversial about the method? (not the cage dancing and stuff, thats kinda weird). Even us fat people look at other fat people and say in our heads, "you really think you should be eating that tubby?" We are such hypocrites!
If a fat person makes us angry we say terribly mean and angry things about their weight in our heads (there is no POSSIBLE way you can deny that, and if you do, everyone will know you are lying), what makes us different from this guy? He just chooses to say it out loud in attempts to motivate us.
But I guess it just boils down to having a "type A" personality or a "type B" personality. It should be about the reality of it, and this guy is as blunt as they come.
Sorry if I went on some kinda tangent, I just think that people get too bent out of shape because this guy is so blunt, calling him awful and whatnot, when he is just giving the harsh reality of things and pushing it in your face. But I do understand where some people are coming from saying, "I KNOW I'm fat, I'm workin on it, I DON'T need a reminder! Leave me the EF alone!"
Soooo...there is my 2 cents, if its even worth that to ya |

Rep Power: 5 | | People can complain if they want That first commercial is quite offensive, to the overweight and to women in general. (The second commercial I find way too funny/cheesy to find offensive though. Rhyming =/= Cool.) Obviously nobody has to join that gym, but when has that ever stopped somebody from complaining? |

Rep Power: 4 | | I think that it's a great idea.... I mean, there are plenty of other gyms out there, and what he's doing does work in some ways. It's an alternative. And it sure is funny to watch him on the various news clips they have posted on the site.
Living in Japan, I was confronted with the fact that people here are a little too sensitive about their weight. In Japan, people would call me fat and pat my stomach and all kinds of stuff. At first, it really shook me. But after three years, I realized that they were just stating the truth. The stomach pats were because they were impressed at how fat I was, since there aren't very many fat people in Japan.
We have become too complacent about obesity in America. Maybe it's okay to be fat.... But then why are we here (on WLF, I mean)? We are fed up and making the changes we need to make for our health and for our self-image. In some ways, I wish being fat weren't so acceptable. I feel like crap, my life expectancy is much lower than a skinny person of my age, and all because it was always okay to eat too much and be lazy. My mom is big, my dad was pretty big, and it was just accepted as the norm to be fat. Now we are all struggling with our weight.
I mean, as things stand, who here can truly say that they feel like it's okay to be obese and that, as an obese person, they feel good about their bodies? I think that, rather than saying that it's okay to make fat people feel better, we should be saying "your body has too much fat, but you aren't your fat. Let's drop that fat for your sake. Let's get you healthy."
Clearly this guy goes to the extreme, but I think that's just his personality. It doesn't make him wrong.
