she looks wayyy too skinny, how horrific that she and the promoters of this crapfest think that is beautiful

I am also an Aussie, and no you don't see girls like that on the beach.. sheez I see lots of gorgeous girls on the beach with natural beautiful bodies, even some of them are too skinny, but not like that.. how can anyone find that attractive!

Bet she has had a visit from Aunty Flo for years either! She is seriously placing her body and future in grave danger.

reminds me of a convo i had with a workmate. He was talking about 'fit' women and how he liked em hot and skinny. And i said women need to have a few curves, otherwise you may as well date a 10yo boy .... he said he prefered the 10yo boy look

Hellooo where's the CURVES. and I'm not talking hey yeah fat is okay. But wheres the NATURAL woman. with some legs and ass..and for god sakes do they have to be giants haha. cmon here where's the love for little 5'4 inchers like me. haha
What's a real woman?

She's most definitely a real woman. Just not one that measures up (literally) to certain imposed standards.

To be anorexic you must starve yourself. She does not starve herself. her only crime is being naturally thin by having a fast metabolism. Just because she's not going to hog down junk food and stop exercising just to gain weight doesn't mean she's got an eating disorder.

Unlike an anorexic, she is not losing weight but maintaining or even gaining over time. She also said that she wasn't sure about her current weight because she doesn't weigh herself regularly, which is uncharacteristic of an anorexic.

What is so silly is that people cannot comprehend the idea that she could be that skinny without starving herself.

I was underweight myself. I endured the accusations, and guess what happened? Like I said on the other page, I became fat. Regardless of how thin she is, she is a lot healthier than she would be if she were 300 pounds.

What anorexic tells the truth when spot lighted on national television?
How do you know she doesn't starve herself?

Personally..she dodges too many questions. People who claim "I don't know what I weigh" typically lie. If you go to a doctor once a year, you know.
And I'm more than sure pageant women are weighed, at a gym maybe? Out of their own regard? After all they're going to be in a pageant where looks matter and are judged. You show me a pageant woman who doesn't go to a gym and I'll still well, tell you that she has to know her weight.

I think the woman is full of shit.
I also think she is rather sketchy about her life style.
And I think she is horridly skinny.
And for those who say "the other contestents were skinny too!"
Did you happen to look at the video they played in the response? Those women arn't as skinny as her. They look, well, normal. She doesn't. She turned side ways and damn near dissappeared.

But regardless, bottom line is, she looks sickly. Sickly with make up on and a spray on tan. Obviously the nation is in uproar about how skinny she is, thus, most don't see her a symbol of "healthy beauty".

Actually thats untrue. Anorexia nervosa is a serious, often chronic, and life-threatening eating disorder defined by a refusal to maintain minimal body weight within 15 percent of an individual's normal weight. This doesnt mean they never eat, it means they maintain a seriously underweight body and low BMI, such as the models. Her BMI was on or about 15-16. To be Anorexic you have to be below 17.5

And EXACTLY like an anorexic, she lies and denies it. Thats exactly what anorexia is. If somebody goes around saying they have anorexia, then they usually dont.

Did you never go to school? never do basic science or read the sticky threads in this forum? Calories in vs calories out. To get down to such a low weight then yes you must eat a seriously low amount of calories.

Actually you probably went through what happens to a lot of us. As children we run about a lot and burn a lot off, the metabolism burns through everything very fast. As you hit puberty and about 17-18 it slows down. Usually by 25 most people are getting solid, and by 30 because you picked up poor eating habits (being able to eat everything and not gain weight) a lot are fat.
This isnt about you however, this is about a girl who clearly looks anorexic and qualifies by the guidelines of weight/height.

I am sorry if this comes as harsh it is not my intention, but I think that what you wrote has more to do with you than her. at the end of your post you corroborated with us that she is underweight after all and that can't be healthy, anorexia or not. But you don't seem to notice she is too skinny.

I know you still feel hurt because you gained weight but it has nothing to do with accusations or society, it only has to do with your eating habits and you alone can change it. Also being extremely underweight is as dangerous as being overweight, you risk heart failure, hair and teeth loss, among other things. we still assume that being very skinny is way better than being fat in the eyes of society but they are both equally unhealthy.

and they've already said it but there are many faces to an illness like anorexia, some don't continuously lose weight they just maintain a very low bmi like wishes said. denying you look unhealthy is definitely one of them.

I know many people are naturally skinny and fit but they certainly aren't malnourished. other girls in the competition are skinny including the girl who won, but by no means they are thin to the extreme.
if she has indeed a fast metabolism then she is simply not eating enough to sustain how much calories her body burns through metabolism/exercise and therefore she isn't eating the enough food she needs to maintain her body functions.
beauty aside, society aside, health always comes first.

I can't imagine how anyone can think that this girl is of the norm.
In 8th grade I weighed 115#'s and was 5'4" tall.
I have a photo someone took on the last day of school. In June.
Of me wearing a huge cable knit sweater that was falling off it was so big.
You could clearly see my clavicle and how sunk in it was.
Bottom line is this. At the age of 12-13 I had a roaringly fast metabolism.
Like Wishes said the younger you are the faster the metabolism.

There is no way that that girl is normal. None.
And for the record I was eating lots and lots of food. Mom use to joke that she could cook up a whole chicken just for me and that I would clean it down to the bones if she let me. lol

^^; Based of what I've read around, there isn't something as a fast metabolism. In fact most people don't and if they do, aka by lacking an enzyme or something else, then they should compensate for it.
again I agree with Wishes.

LOL I hear you! My 13 yo son weighs just 34kg, and that is good for him, for the first 12 years of his life he wasn't even on the "growth charts" at the pediatrician's!!! We have had to do extensive work to get him on track weight wise.. but no it is not that he has a "fast metabolism" or such, it is because he was born with an abdominal birth defect meaning he can't eat much at once, so has lots of small meals per day (and what are us fatties trying to re-educate ourselves to do.. eat lots of small meals per day!!!)

In my experience, most people who are naturally that skinny are pretty self concious of it, and don't go parading around and are generally as body shy as most overwieght people are! Beauty Pageant.. I think not!

All I can say is when I barely ate anything I weighed 103 at 5'4 ..and guess what it was HAVOK on my body. I came close to passing out several times, sick from not eating to the point of gagging but obviously nothing was in there to throw up. I'm definately not condoning eating disorders..been there done that, dont care what anyone thinks of it either. The smallest person I have EVER known that I watched hog down food (as a grown woman) was my one friend who weighed 116 at 5'7. And that was close to sickly looking. But no where even NEAR that lady.

And the not knowing her weight? Yeah I think that's bullshit too. She damn well knows. And I dont think she's disgusting, I think she has a problem that she needs to fix.
That's all.

Hey maybe she just does coke though like some of the supermodels ;P
I kid. =)

It's been interesting to me how high the emotions have run on this thread. Personally, I look at the gal (who certainly has a beautiful face!) and am just saddened by how terribly unhealthy she looks. Skin and bones come to mind. I hope she sees the truth about herself and gets the help she needs.

wow she is shocking to look at. I would like to ask the question, when did the idea of "attractiveness" change to the ideal of women who look like skinny, pre pubesent males, with no curves or feminine appeal?

I'll keep my curves, thanks (but be healthy and active ofcourse).
