Full of shit? who knows. She's probably been brainwashed all her life because of these things, depending on how early she started.
Oh right on. I am sorry you feel that way. I was not at all being defensive with you.

I never said you said that, I am saying the reason as to why her weight IS DISGUSTING is because of the illness.

The illness is disgusting, not what the model is saying, not what she is doing, not whom she is. Ppl may beat around the bush all day long with this one, whether or not she's lying, if she knows better, ect, if the illness is not treated, yes she may die.

The polar opposite (the obese class) would be to say this forum is comprised of people with extreme eating illness in varying degrees. I don't think that boat will float here.
Oh I am sorry YOU feel that way, whether or not it floats in this forum, ppl don't eat themselves fat because they want to be fat. (yes some may want to be fat to keep away other things, but I don't believe the majority do, HOWEVER I do believe it has to with a wide range of reasons)

People STARVE themselves because they SEE FAT, they FEEL FAT. They want to be slender. It's a VERY PAINFUL mind game.

Proof of point, see 100 years ago for any anorexia or similar. Funny how that works eh? Same goes for Obesity. You can kid yourself that you are not eating that much, and that you eat healthy, but your body is telling you the truth.

Hit the nail on the head as usual. But you have to have been there, and beaten it to understand i think. Most people here just wont "get it".
Those that fess up and stop making excuses for everything and everyone are the ones that succeed.
Yes that's right, she cannot help it, even if you know it's wrong, even if you know you WANT to stop, even if you know you NEED to stop. It is an illness of the mind.

Haha Mental Health or Not, that statement right there says it all. Truly. OUR MENTAL HEALTH IS ALL WE HAVE. If it becomes disillusioned, a person cannot just wave a wand and SAY OH STOP DOING THAT, CAN'T YOU SEE YOU'RE HURTING YOURSELF? Yes they can. No, they cannot stop, that is why ppl drink, that is why people smoke, (those things yes are addictions, but the under lying cause to those addictions is much greater than what is causing them to make those decisions.)

Just because people don't understand this on here, does NOT make it wrong. Being Self-Aware & Mature is sometimes a hard concept to endure.

Maybe people want to take responsibility for things, (just because someone can't yet speak up and say, Oh btw I have an addiction, or I am sick, doesn't mean they don't want to take responsibility.

AND even when they finally come to terms to step up and say, you know I have wronged some people, I am doing harm to myself here, but I cannot stop it on my own, I need help, (they're still going to be ill) but they've taken responsibility.

Proof of point, see 100 years ago for any anorexia or similar. Funny how that works eh?

Hmm, Sorry? What? You didn't prove any points here...I don't see any example. What does 100 years ago have to do with anything. Because 100 years ago the world didn't work as well as it does now, concerning Mental Health, we're only now just wrapping our finger's around how the body & mind works. 100 years ago, they hadn't even stuck their toe into the water to know that a black man's skin was just a different pigmentation. So wha?

We also know that 100 years ago, if you weren't wealthy you didn't eat much. If you were quite wealthy you weren't as sickly looking as the poor.

Hit the nail on the head as usual. But you have to have been there, and beaten it to understand i think.

Haha What? and you were, because you sure as shoot don't look 100 years old..... You're just throwing around points that have no persuasive affect.

Self-Awareness is the key, and maturity, now that is something people here may never get.

I disagree. Anorexia nervosa, bulemia nervosa, EDNOS, they are illnesses. It's a mental illness, not physical, and I feel like people don't always understand that.

I've spoken with dozens and dozens of girls and boys with eating disorders, and only a few actually made the conscience decision to starve or purge.

Also, you can't just hand a sandwich over to someone with an eat disorder and tell them to eat it, I hate it when people say things like "Oh she just needs a doughnut." No, this is not true. This person does not need a doughnut, she needs mental help. Eating disorders are almost always about control, not trying to be skinny. If a person can control what they place in their mouths, if they can control their bodies, then they feel they control whatever is going on in their lives. One of my best friends on this entire planet wasted away to 80-something pounds from bulemia, and not because she wanted to be skinny or look good. She could have cared less about that, it was because she was gay and didn't know how to handle it. She didn't feel in control. Sure there are those out there who starve themselves to be thin, but generally they just have disordered eating. A lot of people on this site have had disordered eating at one point, except it was with overeating, not undereating.

You don't choose to have an eating disorder, no one wants one. Talk to anyone who has an eating disorder and they'll tell you the he** they go through every single day. 95% of the people I've talked to would give anything to be without their disorder, the other 5% either haven't gotten to the extremes yet (they will) or they have embraced their disorders (aka the pro-ana pro-mia movement) and have planned to die because of it. My friend made it out alive, I made it out alive, but others aren't so lucky. I've lost 2 online friends to eating disorders, one died from suicide and the other I'm not sure about, I never found out the details. Choice has little to do with it. It's true, bulemics do choose to shove their fingers (or toothbrushes or whatever) down their throats to throw up or use laxatives, but they don't choose to have the thoughts that cause them to do it. It's like someone who is incredibly depressed, if they weren't so disturbed in the head, they wouldn't kill themselves. If someone with an eating disorder wasn't so disturbed in the head, they wouldn't purge or starve themselves.

Anyway, I can't be totally sure if this model has an eating disorder or not, but it seems like she probably does. Girls and boys who have suffered from eating disorders for a long time become experts at hiding it, so unless she admits it herself and gets help for herself, we'll probably never know. She'll either die or she'll get help.

I could rant and rave and go on and on (and on) about this topic for years, but I should probably stop now before I get myself all upset. I get a little touchy with this topic if you didn't notice. It hits very close to home and brings back to many painful memories.

So now this has gone down the road of asking one question really

Is Anorexia something you choose to do, or is it uncontrollable? The answer to this can be debated for years really. And its not up to us really to determine which since I'm sure none of us are qualified to do.

Either way, it has no impact on the initial subject, which is that the model was clearly anorexic (by choice or by disease/illness) by the medical definition.

I don't know if this is true but my biology teacher in school told us there are two types of anorxia sufferers, there are the ones who are influenced my things like the media or just get into an obsessive diet, they're usually aiming to lose weight and they often recover. Then theres another kind who don't recover, it's very seldom about weight and it doesn't just exist in humans but can be in animals too(i'm not sure about this bit). If thats true tehn the first kind would be an addiction but the second one would have to be an illness surely?

Some people do have bodies as skinny as that model but it's quite clear looking at how drawn her face is that something isn't right. I think she needs help.
