Rep Power: 12 | | Looks like Tues. Sept 4th there will be an episode of the Biggest Loser where they show people who were on the show and see if they've gained it back.
Just found that snooping around google.

Rep Power: 13 | | | Biggest Loser Workout DVDS P.S. I just bought 3 "Biggest Loser" Workout DVDs... Power Sculpt; Cardio Max; and Jillian Michaels. I did the 1st phase of the Cardio Max and LOVED it and will do the Power Sculpt on alternating days. Anyway, just thought I'd recommend them!

Rep Power: 7 | | I've never been a big fan of TBL, probably because I've only ever seen 10 minutes of one episode that was in the middle of a season, but the family aspect sounds interesting so I'm probably going to check it out.
I'm not much of a TV person, though, the only thing I watch on American television is, ironically, the USA channel, haha.
Is TBL cheesy? Weight loss reality shows tend to be.. |

I am a fan of the show, so I guess my opinion is somewhat biased But I would recommend starting from the beginning so that you get to know the personalities and you know what's going on. Yes, it can be cheesy sometimes. Almost all reality shows are. I think the cheesiest parts are when they do product placement. It happens like once each show and for like 2 minutes everyone is kinda ooing and ahhing over Nabisco 100 calorie packs or Wriggly's Sugar Free gum....It's kinda funny IMO and a little entertaining! haha! But definately watch the first episode...they will probably give a lot of background to the people on the show. |

Rep Power: 12 | | I know that real health gurus are WAAAy against the show...BUT... I LOVE it. Mostly because I harvest a lot of motivation from the show. Honestly I can not enjoy watching it if I have not exercised. I feel too guilty! lol So, I either run before it comes on or ride my elliptical while it is on. That wat I can watch it with the satisfaction that I am doing well on my diet/ exercise and losing weight the healthy way.
I just really love this show. |

Rep Power: 8 | | | K, I'm with you. I look forward to TBL every season. The show does so much good for so many. I love seeing the participants have so much success. It's easily my favorite show on TV. We'll have to have a running thread during the season to compare notes!
Tiff, I haven't heard that about health gurus being against the show. What's the reasoning for it? |

Rep Power: 12 | | Well, the root of that matter is that the way and speed at which the contestants lose weight is not ideal...or very realistic. I think those who are against it oppose the health risks to a viewer who would try to mimic the losses of a contestant. I think most who are against it would view it as a crash diet (which I am not sure it isn't) and that it is not very healthy.
The thing about the health issues that conflicts me is that there have been several contestant who were borderline diabetic and saved themselves from that by the end of the show. So even if the speed at which they lose weight is not ideally healthy, it does obviously have some health benefits to some individuals.
Either way, I LOVE the show and will continue to sit on the edge of my seat throughout the whole season. |

I'll definitely check out the first episode, then... The weight loss on the show, from fan's descriptions, IMO sounds really unrealistic for normal people... But just watching other people struggle with the same thing that I am may be a good new source of inspiration despite that. |

I usually ride the elliptical ...the jumping jacks make it hard to focus on the screen |

10 push-ups for tears, lunges for alliances, sit-ups for everytime someone backstabs, and an extra mile run for each time they elliminate someone who was actually working hard.
By the end of the season, I will be in my skinny jeans for sure. | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
