Rep Power: 0 | | | Lifetime Movie about Fitness and Weight With obesity becoming such a huge problem in today’s society its awesome to see that Lifetime is putting out movies like their new one about a girl who wears a fat suit to school and finds out what it is like on the other side of the scale. At least some TV has maintained its sense of purpose |

Rep Power: 357932 | | | its been done before... on talk shows, on comedys (will smith's show did it - back in the day when susan powter was a diet celeb of the moment)
I'm not sure what it proves except that it sucks to be fat...

Rep Power: 27868 | | | It's been done before....I take offense to all the "hey! let's pose in fat suites!" undercover things they've been doing the media because they're very hypocritical...first they say you should tolerate bigger people, and then later they say that we should try to get healthy and lose weight. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I watched part of the movie lastnight (didnt get to finish it), but when the girl that was really overweight was talking it sounded as if she was saying what Im always thinking! First talking about how years and years of being told you are nothing can make you believe that it's true. I have spent most of my life hating myself and thinking that im disgusting but my husband never understood why. I tried to explain to him that after years and years of being told Im ugly and disgusting I just started to believe it!...and she also said that food was like a drug to her and I feel the same way sometimes!

But at the same time, I appreciate that there's a lot of emphasis about losing weight when you really are overweight. It's not just about looks, as we all know. It's about being healthy.
I can appreciate people's attempts to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. But the whole fat suit thing is pretty silly I think. I know it gives the thin person a chance to see how obese people are looked at and treated differently in little ways. But as was said, it's the hopelessness of knowing you can't just go home at the end of the day and take your fat off and the long-term struggle with self-worth that makes being fat so hard to handle. I am overweight, but certainly not obese and I know that wearing a fat suit for a couple of days wouldn't suddenly make me all-insightful into the life of an obese person. I'm sure the world would be a much nicer place if it did work that way though. |

Rep Power: 58397 | | | I watched it and thought it was very well done. However, in the end, the skinny girl got to remove the fat girl costume and be thin again. It doesn't work like that in the real world, I wish it did. She had what, a few weeks of living like that with the knowledge and relief she could take it off at any time. Some of us dream of that! It's not hardly the same.
The one I hate the most is when Vanessa Minnilo (spelling?) did it for Entertainment Tonight. Talk about insane. She has no clue how hard it can be. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I just watched the movie and I thought it was great. I could really relate to her relationship with her mother and it made me realize that deep down I almost blame my mother for my obesity problems. Even though as a child she fed me very unhealthy foods and wasnt a good role model for health, my weight is my problem and not her fault. I think it's disgusting how some people look at fat people. As a child i was always the 'fat kid' and even most adults treated me with fat stereotypes such as being lazy, or glutonous.
