Rep Power: 0 | | | Super Size Me has anyone seen this movie/documentary? it's been running on msnbc and i've yet to see it in its entirety, but it's rather interesting. i don't dig the fact that the guys eating fast food on purpose and doing major damage, but i love the other info in the film that i've seen thus far.
like a school that chose to go with a healthier vendor, etc. and how most schools and districts won't do it b/c they feel that it's not economical, though it costs just about the same..interesting, eh?
they were mainly focusing a school where the "bad" kids are sent; it's not a private school, but public school for troubled kids....anyway, they switched to the healty food vendors, got rid of soda, etc and they've noticed drastic changes in the kids..go figure.
i just think it's interesting.

Rep Power: 10 | | | I've seen it. It's definitely worth seeing. I really wish he would have eaten fast food once or twice a day, though, so people could see that even smaller amounts of fast food are bad for you. It's too easy to look at him and say, "Well, I don't eat THAT much fast food, I'm sure I'm fine."

there are a lot of people out there who do eat fast food for every meal (or grocery store bought junk).

There's sometimes a financial aspect to those kind of diets.
I have heard from some people that a fast food diet can be cheaper in the long run than eating healthy - Trying to do the math on that - I suppose you can get a burger, fries, and large drink at McDonalds cheaper than you could have a grilled chicken breast w/ vegetables at home, plus the time savings.
There are two grocery stores in my area, and it's definitely cheaper to eat processed foods than itis to eat healthier... Which is really kind of sad... Yes, you can find healthy choices inexpensively but it takes some work

Rep Power: 0 | | I really did like that movie. It showed an extreme that I needed to see.
Fast food does seem cheaper to me, and I have also noticed that poorer people are more obese because of it, at least that is the way it seems.
Now that I have been eating healthier I dont' like fast food so much. Sometimes I'll see commercial for something on TV, and I let my self buy it just to remind myself how much that food sucks.

Rep Power: 0 | | | i can see how it might be cheaper in the beginning, to buy fast food - that is, but really, if you're willing to work for it..no matter how much money you have or don't have...plant things..freeze them..buy things when you see them on sale. i have two small children, their father & myself...we're not rich, not poor, but we're like lower middle class...i guess...if that's even a level, but we manage to keep it healthy..there are ways. you've gotta be willing to put in the work! :-)

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yeah that documentary honestly caused me to give up eating fast food completely. I never ate it a lot so I didn't end up losing oodles of weight over it, but I'm definitely a healthier person since I've given it up. Over time I've completely lost any desire for it as well. It just doesn't seem very appetizing anymore.

i'm actually leaning that way myself, b/c i haven't even seen the whole thing yet, but hearing the parts where his doctor was explaining what's happening to him and hearing him talk about how tired he was..etc.
so i'm thinking...if i seriously have the urge for a burger..take the time and grill a turkey burger...i like them a lot and it's a little better...so yeah...i'm anxious to see the entire movie.

Great movie! It is a bit on the sensationalized side, but it gets the idea across and has had an impact on the way we all may view fast food.
It was a film that inspired me to create a different type of documentary, one that inspired people to change, rather than scared them into change...if you have a chance, visit us at Inspired: The Movie Official Website
We've been filming for about 18 months now...any and all feedback is welcome!
Fast Food Nation was also an interesting film, although not a documentary, it feels pretty realistic.

Rep Power: 21 | | | I have the DVD. I actually stopped going to the fastfood joints, other than Subways, way before Super Size Me came out. After I saw the documentary, I was relieved.
