Rep Power: 6350 | | | Go Tyra Go!!!! Click anywhere in the message to go to the page! Have y’all,
Ever typed in your name on Google just to see what comes up? I've done it before for fun, and have seen lots of articles and photos from my career come up. But after returning from Australia recently and coming home to phone calls asking me if I was OK, I was confused. What were they talking about?
Then I remembered my flight back from Australia. Why did that flight attendant look my thighs and butt up and down -- and say, "Thank God! Thank God! They're liars!!!" I just wasn't getting it. I told myself I didn't care, but I was having trouble sleeping that night so I got outta bed, went over to my computer, and Googled myself. This time I typed in "TYRA FAT" -- and child, I had NO idea what was about to pop up on that screen.
My eyes were met with headline after headline "THIGH-RA BANKS!" "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP WADDLE!" "TYRA PORK CHOPS!" "TYRA TOPS 200LBS!" There were blogs from people shocked that it was reported I had gained almost 50 pounds in two months. I COULDN"T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS READING. Then I saw the photo of me on the beach in Australia. Written next to it was, "Tyra Banks shows the world why she retired from the runway." I needed to let everyone know what I thought about these headlines, and on the Tyra Show this Thursday, February 1st, I put on the very same swimsuit I was wearing in Australia…and confront those fat tabloid photos.
I hope you watch to see what I have to say!
Love,
Tyra

Rep Power: 6350 | | | It's amazing the way that we think! So what she doesn't look like she did when she walked the cat walk. She definitely still looks healthy and has stated that she is well within her "healthy" weight range.

Rep Power: 357932 | | This story has gotten so blown out of proportion (no pun intended )
who cares if she's put on weight - it's the media -- it makes a good headline - they did the same thing to the red headed princess in england (who became the spokes person for weight watchers)
I think what irks me the most about this story -was a snippet that was in the paper recently - right after the story came out... that she admits she doesn't eat healthily but she's basically said - she's not a model anymore so she doesn't have to... Not sure I agree with that but she's a grown woman... she can do what she wants. Tyra's beef Models are just like us
Yes, Tyra Banks admits she's gained some weight since her modeling days, but she is tired of the jokes made after photos of her wearing a one-piece swimsuit popped up on the Internet.
"It was really hurtful to me," the talk-show host tells People magazine in its Feb. 5 issue. "I'm not the healthiest eater," she says, adding she isn't required to "live up to that model standard anymore."
The photos, which show Banks on a beach in Australia, appeared on a celebrity gossip Web site this month with the headline "Tyra Banks is Fat."
"I don't want to sit in front of you and be ... fake and say, 'I love myself, I'm beautiful, it's great,' " Banks told People. "I still feel hot, but every day is different. It's when I put on the jeans that used to fit a year ago and don't fit now and give me the muffin top, that's when I say, 'Damn!' "

Rep Power: 263 | | | I like to watch Tyra's Top Model and occasionally her talk show and I have always thought that she represented women on the runway well because even when she was a runway model she wasn't stick thin like some of the sick looking girls who do it now. So she has gained a few who really cares. She loves herself obviously or she would do something about it. I am so on her side with this one. GO TYRA!!!! |

Rep Power: 357932 | | knowing how to pose and good airbrushers help but she's like 5'10 or 5'11 - and has a nice victoria's secretesque rack
Kinda just goes to show that weight really is just a number - 161 sounds like ahigh number, until you see it on someone -then it doesn't seem high at all

Rep Power: 0 | | | I agree, weight can be very very deceiving...especially if you work out.
I am at 142 now and people guess im about 125. When I am at my best and very trim it's about 130 and people were actually worried I was too skinny at 130 (they said I looked like 100 pounds). I am about 5'6
So ya 161 is nothing for 5'10, thats really trim if you have any muscle mass |

Amen to that I would kill to be that thin.
The nerve of anyone calling that fat, our society views anyone being overweight more than a size 2 anymore. Jesus what is wrong with people.
I love Tyra, I always watch her show she is really cool.
