Smile Medifast is Great!!

I have been on Medifast since mid-August 2007. Since then I have lost 65 pounds and hope to lose 42 more by the end of the year -- and I know I will be able to do it!

In October 2006 I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. I had tried diet after diet and, after losing about 20-30 pounds, the weight would come right back and bring friends -- even though I hadn't done anything different in my schedule or diet. Once diagnosed with diabetes, the meds I had to take packed on even MORE pounds and made losing the weight necessary for proper glucose control nearly impossible. I found Medifast in a diabetes magazine, got my doctor's reluctant permission to try it (he didn't think I would last more than a few months) and, not sure if it would do any good, ordered two weeks' worth of food.

By my next doctor's visit in early November, I had dropped 40 pounds and he began taking me off diabetes meds and reducing the dosages of some of my other medications. I am now in complete remission from diabetes (as of January 1), am off ALL diabetes medications, have gone from a size 20 to a 10 in nine months, and feel better than I have since I was a teenager -- and that was a LONG time ago!!

MF has been great for me

I did a liquid diet back in 1990 - Optifast, the one Oprah did. I lost 100 lbs (went from 257 to 157). It was 3 months total liquid, then 3 months easing back into regular food. But when the 6 months was done, that was it.

I went on to get married, have kids, and gained weight. In Sept of 2006, I was about 240 lbs. I was ready to go back to the only thing that ever worked for me, total food fast. But my dear husband was concerned, so I found Medifast. With MF, I could do 5 liquid meals and one "regular" lean & green meal (L&G)..... or actually get MF meals that were close to "real" food! I started in Sept. 2006, and chose this meal plan that seemed like a real eating plan, not "fasting":
B: Oatmeal
Snack: Pudding
L: L&G - Salad w/ chicken breast
Sn: meal bar
D: soup
Sn: hot cocoa.
(and LOTS of WATER!)

I ate 6x a day, but the foods took a week or so to figure out how to prepare them (gotta let some of them re-hydrate a while!), and lost weight. I didn't exercise a bit until 3 months in. For me, following MF was pretty easy. I didn't have to make many eating choices.

By summer 2007, I had passed and re-set my weight loss goal several times, and lost 70 lbs!!! Wowza! I'm still about 10 lbs above a "healthy BMI"... but I'm holding here for a while.

I "transitioned" in July 2007, and still use MF meals 2-3 times a day (I make cookies with their shake and oatmeal mixes, I have these cookies for breakfast every day.) I love their bars.

I'm in the hardest part, maintaining, and I've been up & down about 8 lbs. But my new clothes still fit, and I will not outgrow them!

So MF has been great for me. The real clincher was/is the on-line chats, forums, blogs. I go there frequently for tips, encouragement, motivation.

Good luck finding the right program for you!

Medifast is Life Changing!

Medifast has changed my life and continues to do so!

I've lost a total of 88 pounds on Medifast since November 07. My health is better and my life is better. I started out at 357 - the highest weight I have ever been. I couldn't walk, sleep let alone breathe. I couldn’t play with my children. I could barely walk the halls at work. I need to do something as I was miserable. I wasn't fun to be with or be around. My marriage began to suffer. I realized that my kids and my marriage were more important to me than anything.

I did lots of research and even tried to have the lap band surgery. I tried and tried (saw 6 docs!) and due to insurance constraints, I was told no time and time again. It finally dawned on me that God didn't want me to have the surgery - He wanted me to find another way.

One evening my hubby came home and was so excited about the Medifast program that he couldn't wait to tell me about it. His boss, who had been 80+ pounds overweight lost it all in 5 months. I was shocked. His health increased - he stopped all medicines. He was no longer a diabetic. My hubby got the website for me.

I went to the site and checked it out. We discussed the program and all the benefits and decided to go for it that evening. My first order arrived November 13, 2007 (I'll never forget that day as it is the first day of my new life!) and I began this fantastic journey.

Was it easy? No. I had to re-learn 35+ years of bad habits. Does it take work? Of course, it’s not going to come off overnight. Am I still learning? You bet. Do I regret ever using Medifast? Absolutely not. I don't call this a "diet" because it’s not....it’s my life plan. Medifast is teaching me the way to be healthy for the rest of my life.

There is no magic pill.
There is no magic chef.
There is no magic patch.
There is no magic liquid.
There is no magic wand.
There is no magic surgery.
There is no magic...period.

MF isn't even magic....but it truly is amazing.

This wonderful program has 25+ years of research from John Hopkins backing Medifast. I have the most amazing support group online you can imagine. Can’t make it to a center or there is not one close to you? You can do this program online! You can place your orders, join support groups, talk to Nutritional Support (they are awesome!!) and ask them any question you may have; and you can physically see the results others have achieved by visiting the Success Forum. You can see those who’ve lost 30 pounds to over 200 pounds and more by utilizing the Medifast tools. Talk about motivation!!

Your journey doesn’t end there, either. Medifast has a transition and maintenance program to ensure your success. Now THAT’s a true life plan!

I have 135.8 pounds left to lose. That number used to overwhelm me, depress me and cause a downward spiral. Not any longer because I have the most amazing plan and tools at my fingertips – I have Medifast!

I am Thin - thanks to Medifast

I was heavy my whole life (now 54). I started Medifast after realizing I couldn't continue my active lifestyle at 215 pounds. On a 5'2" woman, that's a LOT of weight. Nothing else worked - and I tried them all. I decided Medifast was my last hope.

Well, it worked! I lost 80 pounds in a little over 9 months. I'm now wearing a size 4!! I hit goal on April 20 and feel like my life has just begun. I've been in transition for nearly 8 weeks now and am currently 2 pounds below my goal weight.

I think the secret is not in the food itself (which is pretty amazing, let me tell you). It's that the program taught me how to make good choices. By only having to focus on preparing one meal a day (the Lean & Greem mentioned by other posters), I learned to make healthy choices. The transition stage then taught me how to add back other food groups, and still make those healthy choices. I have totally changed my relationship with food. I love it, but it doesn't control me any more.

More on medifast success

I lost about 80 lbs on medifast. I need to be really careful about my calories (I'm 54 and the body just s-l-o-w-s down at a certain age I guess!). I found it impossible to keep my calories at 1000 or below. The controlled portions really helped me get a handle on how much I eat in a day. I tried hard to count calories and points before trying Medifast, but I really had no success. With Medifast, the weight just kept coming off--about 2 pounds a week. I have been this size and weight for almost a year now and use medifast products just too keep it off. I eat regularly most of the time but if I see the scale inching up, I go right back on.

Someone mentioned that the products were expensive, but actually it only costs about $2 a meal--about $10 a day to use medifast foods. That isn't really any more than just eating! The difficulty is that you have to buy the food in advance so you have to lay it out. Once you get the first package, you save SO much money not eating regular food and if you just put that away, you have the cost of next month's food ready for you next shipment.

Anyway, as you can see, I'm a real Medifast fan! But it's only because I am now the size I've wanted to be for years and am feeling so great! I am eternally grateful for this product. I thought I was just going to be fat forever, and now I'm a really cute grandma!

Barbara
