Rep Power: 0 | | | Anyone Else Doing Medifast? Hello All!
I posted my before and during pictures already so I thought I would post here and see if anyone else is doing the Medifast diet. I have been doing it since Feb. 28th and have lost 56 lbs. I tried every diet around and would lose a few pounds here and there but nothing like this diet.
So I just wondered if I am alone in my weight loss journey.

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yeah, you cant go back to your old eating habits when you get to goal. There is a correct way to do it and still eat 1500 calories a day to maintain your goal. I love the program but it is not for everyone.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I am doing it, I am doing it!! I see you posted this a while ago, but I am looking for another on the Medifast plan too. I just started, today is my second day. I am feeling pretty rough, I have to admit. My bones feel like they ache. Did you go through that too?
I have about 150 to lose. My goal is 145-155lbs. I weigh 297 right now. I feel I am really ready to do this this time. I am having a hard time getting motivated to exercize though. I cannot imagine mustering up the strengh. I really struggle when I make meals for my two young boys. I want to chow down on thier lunch!
You look great! You are an inspiration to me. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Medifast Well ive been doing the whole calorie counting thing for a while now and its deffinately worked. But its stopped working lately i either hit a plateau or gain. So i tried upping my calories and that worked for a while then stopped. I tried zig zagging calories. That worked but then stopped. So i looked up diet plans on the internet and Medifast really appealed to me. I know most people just think its a fad diet but i would like to give it a try.
However it is quite expensive. So ive been reading the basic principals of the diet and from what i can gather it entails eating 5 smalls meals of around 100-150 calories and one 300-400 calorie meal consisting of lean meat and vegetables. Do you think it would be possible to diet this way but not using the medifast products?

Rep Power: 357932 | | i thought medifast was a very low calorie liquid diet -wiht really only one meal of solid food a day..
I'm not totally sure it's long term healthy...
Have you been keeping track of your calories? programs like www.fitday.com and the 100s of other calorie counters can be a great tool for that... what range have you been eating in? what are your workouts like?
there are a few threads aroound here on the concept of 6 meals a day and there's no real proof that it helps with weight loss - its really about total calorie consumption for the day.

But then i was told that for the amount of exercise i was doing i needed to up them. So i used the BMR calculator and that estimated 1800 calories day. So i stuck to that for a few weeks an i lost more weight but its stopped yet again. So i need something to get my weight moving again. Cause it really is dis-heartening when nothings happening an your working your ass off lol. Thats why im considering medifast, i thought maybe if i changed my diet plan it might start moving things again.
Exercise wise im pretty active. I usually do around 2 aerobics classes a day 5 times a week. Then sometimes more cardio in the gym dependant on the amount of time i have. But i also throw discus twice a week in 2 hour sessions and that usually consists on an hour of weight training pair session. And im usually on my feet alot between classes an at lunch in my college hours. And i walk everywhere to the gym, from the gym, to the track and back and to the bus and back every morning for college.
So its not like im not burning off my calories. And i have a small journal i carry around with me to keep track of calories.
Really stressed with it all at the moment

Rep Power: 357932 | | | My weight loss had stalled for about 3 months - I wont call it a plateau because it really wasn't -it jsut wasn't coming off as fast as I wanted and at the same time I wasn't being as meticulous as I had been... so I was eating fairly close to maintenance... not really stopping any exercise just not being careful with calories.
I finally got my butt back in gear and this week I had - so far anyhow a- fairly nice reward on the scale.
Steve, our charming resident expert, has posted around here a few times that one of the ways to kick start weight loss again, especially if you've been at it for a while, is to eat close to maintenance for a while - - that could be a couple of weeks -then refocus and cut back a bit on calories and you should see an improvement.
I didn't do it intentionally it was just a bad attitude on my part -but I can honestly say it did work... figuring out maintenance though, is what might take a few tries... for me it was about 13.5 calories a lb - the average person is around 15 calories per lb.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I love Medifast :) I've been on Medifast since last October, and have lost nearly 150 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but no - it's not a liquid diet. I have 5 MF meals a day plus one "Lean and Green" meal - with calories hovering somewhere around 1000 a day. Medifast meals can include shakes, hot or cold drinks, and soups, puddings, oatmeal and (pretty darned yummy) bars.
I did a liquid diet long ago under a doctor's care, and this is so much better - I'm losing weight quickly, but don't feel "woozy", I can exercise, I feel great, I'm more agile, I don't think about food constantly, because I do eat.
I started running a couple of months ago - I honestly feel amazing, and it's all thanks to Medifast. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
