Weight Loss Programs

Atkins, Fit for Life, Jenny Craig – there are almost as many weight loss programs as people who want to lose weight! Sharing our experiences here will help us all get a handle on the wealth of information — and misinformation — out there.

I'm David. I finally decided to lose my 70 lbs of excess weight. I've used all of the calculamaters and they say I should eat 2000 calories a day. That sounds like a lot! The only thing I eat 2000 of at one time is rice*

They say doing this I should lose 2 lbs a week.
But I am much more motivated than that, plus I want to lose weight much quicker. Here's my plan, I've lost 4 pounds already!:

I only eat 400 calories a day! Plus I do 2 hours of cardio, each morning, and 2 hours of weight training every night. I don't want to join a gym and the only equipment I own is a stress ball and a Suzanne Somers thigh-master (that's good enuf, right?)

I don't cook and I only like fast food, so I eat one McDonalds double cheeseburger extra value meal every day at lunch, but I only eat some of the fries. The rest of the day I eat nothing, but I do drink 5 liters of caffein-free Dr. Diet Pepper. I don't like most (well any) vegetables or fruit. But the cheeseburger has a pickle on it, which I eat (yuck!) so I'm okay, nutrition-wise.

I am having the tiniest problem with constipation...but I hope it will pass.

AM I a glutton, Steve!

David
*RIP Mitch
You do not need my help. You see, there was food 100 years ago too but we were not fat. Now everyone is sissy gluttons who can't face the facts.

But you are different. If you eat 400 calories per day, you are not a glutton.

More people should be like you.

as long as the pizza is round -it's considered a well rounded meal that contains all the food groups... dairy, carbs, vegetable, fat, and tasty too - as long as youo only eatone pizza at a time, it's a good thing

I think you need one-on-one gluttony counseling. We can set this up in private.

He needs to have a stiff dose of reality slapped in his face. This cannot be done in this setting.

If you think I am wrong, prove it.

You are lying to yourself. You know you are a glutton. Just admit it and man up to your denial. Look in the mirror and say to yourself, "I've been a glutton. There is no reason for my past actions except my extreme greed and selfishness. It's now time to be an adult and do right."

I've researched everything and know this will work.

I had decided not to read any more threads created by that idiot because he clearly has no idea what he's talking about.

But I do think its an interesting subject, the WHYs of why we eat when we KNOW we're eating over our planned calories and we KNOW we wont lose weight like that yet we're either hungry or having intense cravings so we just buckle under and eat. Isn't that really the crux of the issue for most of us? This is aside from those who really are very uneducated about proper eating and do no exercise at all; therein lies very obvious problems which are, in comparison to the primal urge to eat problem, very easy to fix.

yeah it's a little difficult to reach out and slap someone on the internet - we sort of have to resort to name calling and insulting...

I think you're wrong because Ben Franklin said " Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." and since pizza goes so well with beer -then god must have created pizza as well -how can anything be created by god be bad...

You cannot refute GOD!!

That's where I disagree with you.

These psychological 'problems' are not easy to fix when compared to fending off the primal urges to eat.

I also believe you can't segregate the two entirely as separate factors. There's a lot of intermingling between the two.

If someone was brought up for years with terrible habits... changing these habits is a lot harder than finding ways to fake out your biological/physiological system. The mind is a complex beast.
