Weight Loss Programs

Atkins, Fit for Life, Jenny Craig – there are almost as many weight loss programs as people who want to lose weight! Sharing our experiences here will help us all get a handle on the wealth of information — and misinformation — out there.

You cannot refute GOD!!

Believe it or not, Ben Franklin did not say that. It's one of the most misquoted lines of all times. There was some obscure line similar to that about wine in his diaries but he never said that about beer, and it wasn't even that kind of wording with wine. Kinda strange. I even have a T-shirt that says that so I was wrong too.

But, if you want a beer and pizza quote...

"Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza."
-Dave Barry

Ah, here it is, in a letter from Ben Franklin to a French economist named André Morellet:

"We hear of the conversion of water into wine at the marriage in
Cana as of a miracle. But this conversion is, through the goodness
of God, made every day before our eyes. Behold the rain which
descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of
the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves
us, and loves to see us happy.
The miracle in question was only
performed to hasten the operation, under circumstances of present
necessity, which required it."

Hey Steve . What I mean by primal urges are those urges that make you lose control, you try to control it but you have no control, or it could be a normal bodily function that calls out, like hunger or needing to use the loo, along with all of our favorite, sexual urges ha ha (had to throw that in for the dirty minds on here).

For example, when I was complaining about not being about to cut my calories down below 1800-2000 without feeling very out of sorts (hungry, weak, anxious, angry, short tempered, slightly spacey) and on the flip side, sometimes I was eating a bunch for my [short] size and weight just cuz I had cravings, you would sort of tell me to SUCK IT UP but I tried that and it wasn't possible. I tried that for months in fact. Y'all remember the candy that I stupidly bought thin H at his request and then I kept eating like 6 candies every night, or more sometimes, but this is right after I would swear to myself that I wasn't eating any candy. If it wasn't candy it was ice cream or something, I'm not one for not having my instant gratification needs umm gratified.

Since you very kindly turned me onto the leptin hormone (I OWE you one Steve ), which as you know controls our appetite and energy levels, along with many other important hormones that I frankly had no idea about and am still trying to grasp. I'm not a scientist or an expert so I can only tell you how I'm feeling, and at this point wouldn't profess to want to say what causes anything. All of my prior views are being tested in fact so I'm starting to realize I really dont know everything after all (big shocker LOL).

Working with the leptin according to this book I'm reading has really made me feel a normal type of hunger, not my crazy hunger as described above (and only after around 5 hours of not eating anything), and when I walk by candy now I'm like "nah, I'm trying to lose weight right now so I dont need that" and I keeps to steppin' rather than eating it like I would have before I tried this author's approach. I'm still trying to figure it out so I wouldnt feel comfortable commenting about complex scientific bodily processes at this point. I dont have much of a way of evaluating people's explanations (from this book for example) except via my own subjective feelings.

I do think the subject of leptin and other hormones that work with leptin to control the body is really under-discussed and under-understood (did that make sense?).

Blancita and Steve - your discussion is somewhat interesting - rather than have it mired in the nonsense that is this thread -do you want it moved into it's own thread?

Yea, I'm just not a fan of that book really. If you are learning from it... so be it. But it really makes some over-hyped statements about leptin and it's controllability from what I remember.

Leptin isn't even a concern for most of the people posting on this forum.

In your particular situation, maybe. But that's a big maybe.

I've been meaning to design you a meal plan and I just haven't gotten around to it. But it sounds like this book has got you onto something that controls your hunger.

But take it with a grain of salt.... it may have outlined something to ease your hunger pangs... but don't buy too much into the whys.

You believe this guy had the balls to go onto the fitness.com forum and pretend to be me.... saying all sorts of derogatory things. And some people actually thought it was me.

This guy is soooo on my shit list. I wonder how many other places he's doing this about me.

I have taken roids and now I am fat and girly. - workout - exercise - fitness - forum - articles - training - hiit - creatine - bowfles - WorldFitness Training Forum

Haha, fuq you.

Not that I owe anyone an explanation, and I know you aren't really expecting one P2B (what is your real name.... I hate typing P2B and I'm not calling you Pig?), I have never and as far as I know, will never use drugs.

I just don't see a point. I'm not competing in sport at levels that demand that sort of competitive edge. And I never intend on stepping on stage for bodybuilding.... not that I could anyhow.
