Tone different parts, like say your belly doing sit ups to tone that area

You can't tone in that sense, if I'm reading you correctly.

Sticking with your example, if you have belly fat, you'd want to do crunches to 'tighten' up that area.

Am I reading you right?

If so, that's not how it works.

Oh, and I'm not trying to avoid your question... just want to make sure you understand a rather important concept before moving on.

Basically i have the debra stephonsons workout dvd and there is different chapters on there to tone different parts of your body, belly, arms, legs etc, but at the start is a warmup, my question is do i always have to do a warmup before doing the toning chapters, or can i just tone without warmup?

I'd do the warmup.

And I noticed you jumped over that part about toning I posted above. I hope you let that sink in.

You seem to be missing my point.

You can't tone specific parts or your body. Getting lean in a particular section of your body is a function of low body fat levels. Resistance training works the muscles. Muscle is not fat and vice versa.

While resistance training certainly serves a purpose, one of them is not to magically rid you of your fat in your problem areas such as tummy.

What are your stats if you don't mind me asking?

Also, you are falling into a trap that gets a lot of people. Your goal is to lose the fat and look good, yet you are only using the metric of what the scale reads when you step on it to determine your level of success.

What you're missing is the simple fact that losing weight is easy. Losing fat and maintaining muscle is a bit trickier. If you're carrying a ton of fat, this isn't quite a concern. If you aren't overly fat, it's something you really need to focus on.

So again, stats please?

1 stone = 14lbs

11stone = 154lbs + 8lbs

so she weights 162lbs

13 stone = 182lb -where she was
