I am looking to lose around 20 pounds, I am 20 years old 175, 5'8-5'9, I understand I am not huge, but I am uncomfortable with myself like this as I had put on 10 pounds over christmas holiday.
The problem I have with weight loss is, I don't have time for a gym, though I do own a set of hand barbels that go up to 40 pounds each (switchable weights). And I tend to avoid vegetables because I am alergic to some and just don't find alot of them enjoyable.
Is it possible to lose weight fairly fast, on a diet that doesnt consist mostly of greens?
I understand there is no "magical" pill that will do this for me, but is there anything that could help that I could combine with some sort of exercise and diet?
Can someone lead me towards the right direction? ^_^;
To answer your question, yes it is possible to lose weight eating mostly meat. Is it a good idea, no. Most people who lose weigh fast tend to gain it back and more. Losing weight is not just about eating and exercise. It's about taking small steps to creating a healthier lifestyle.
Dramatic changes in your diet will likely lead you to not achieving your goal. It is too hard to maintain extreme diets for extended periods of time.
My recommendations to people are first and foremost cut the sugar out of your diet. Master that first then move on to other small changes that are easy to maintain.
Another recommendation I always give for beginners is to increase your fiber and water uptake. I know a previous poster said there is no research supporting this but he's looking at it from the wrong perspective. If you were to drink a large glass of water prior to eating each meal you would get full quicker. The same goes with fiber. Eating more fiber will also fill you up with less bad calories. Both of these work as appetite suppressants and help you to maintain a better caloric intake.

Actually your body will cannibalize more than just fat. Without a nutrient rich diet it will breakdown muscle protein also which is counterproductive to burning calories.
When did I suggest otherwise.
Or are you trying to impress with information, regardless of how misdirected?
Any hypocaloric diet is going to lead to protein breakdown. I think most anyone understands this.
I think most anyone also understands how best go about minimize this.

There is a lot of disagreement to the effects of eating breakfast and meal frequency. Studying the human body is not an accurate science.
Oh.
I thought it was gospel.
Silly me.

There are many factors that can easily change outcomes. A lot of this information comes from studying the body's biochemistry and extrapolating it to the real world.
Can you teach me more of your knowledges regarding science!!@11??/?
I need more infomazations!

For example, Insulin and Cortisol play important roles in storing fat. Insulin suppresses the hormone known as cortisol, which is responsible for muscle wasting. The downside is that insulin is also responsible for fat storage. Whenever you eat food, insulin is released but if eliminated, you would also cut off all of its anabolic effects and its ability to store energy in the muscles.
Yes!!1
This is exactly what we needed for not only fat loss but survivalism.
Thank you millions.

Breakfast takes place after your body has fasted for up to 6-12 hours, depleted its glycogen stores, and the catabolic hormone cortisol is at its highest point. Your goal is to place your body back on the right track. This is why people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skipping it causes you to waste muscle at a much faster rate. Which again is counterproductive to burning fat.
Now support this claim with research.
Quote:
Many people encourage a higher meal frequency, which must be healthy, to help keep your insulin levels more steady through the day. Frequently what happens is people starve themselves throughout the day then gorge at night prior to a sleep cycle causing insulin levels to spike. At this point your body no longer requires the amount of calories consumed and stores more of it as fat. Especially if you are eating low glycemic carbs that are converted quickly by insulin for fat storage.
Now support this claim with research within the confines of a hypocaloric diet.
Or just go away b/c it's very evident your rambling to gain traffic to your spam links.

I'd recommend a low carb high fatdiet. You lose weight in a good speed (but you definitely see results within the first weeks) and you can eat a lot of good food.
Basically, just stay away from carbs. Your carb intake every day should be 5% and the rest protein and lots and lots of fat.
Chicken, fish, meat, bacon - excellent in this diet! It does get boring after a while and you just feel like throwing up at the view of chicken, lol.
Potatoes, rice, fruit - not so good. Potatoes and rice are big no-no's whilst fruit is adviced only to eat at few times.
That's just the general idea about this diet, but it works. I started it less than a month ago and I've already lost a big amount of weight. Now, I dont weigh myself because that just gets me depressed, but I've grown out of clothes and I can see the difference.
Good luck to you and I hope it works for you!

That's just a ridiculous statement.
Fitting for this thread I suppose.

You can lose weight by eating just meat BUT it isnt a healthy way.If u go for a diet like atkins you can eat alot of meat but what u are trying to do is an extreme of atkins.it can put your life in jeopardy,i know a man who ate just eggs cheese and meat in a desperate attemp to lose weight mind it he had 200kgs to lose. and he fell really sick and couldn't stick to his diet so moderation is a key.
