Is it possible to lose weight eating mostly meat?(Need diet suggestion)
I am looking to lose around 20 pounds, I am 20 years old 175, 5'8-5'9, I understand I am not huge, but I am uncomfortable with myself like this as I had put on 10 pounds over christmas holiday.
The problem I have with weight loss is, I don't have time for a gym, though I do own a set of hand barbels that go up to 40 pounds each (switchable weights). And I tend to avoid vegetables because I am alergic to some and just don't find alot of them enjoyable.
Is it possible to lose weight fairly fast, on a diet that doesnt consist mostly of greens?
I understand there is no "magical" pill that will do this for me, but is there anything that could help that I could combine with some sort of exercise and diet?
Can someone lead me towards the right direction? ^_^;

your thread title says you want mostly meats -now your thread says mostly greens?
Unless you want to lose and gain the same weight over and over again, what you want to consider is a food plan that you can stick with for the rest of your life...
You could lose weight on an all Twinkie diet if your calories are in check...
Spend time reading the stickied threads around the forum - especially in nutrition

You have misread I said "that (doesnt) consist mostly of greens?"
I understand have read the stickies, and I understand it is based off of calories, but i want to make sure that I am getting the proper nutrition at the same time, I doubt a diet of twinkies would be too healthy =P
And regarding me doing this for the wrong reason, don't get me wrong It has to do with health as well, even if it was just for my mental health of how I feel. But I also have problems such as my fathers side has a problem with acid reflux, which I have had encounters with over my life, and I also get tired very easily now. I used to be a cross country runner for my old school, but now I am just out of shape.
I'm just curious if there was anyone else that has had this problem and what they did to overcome it. I want to lose weight but do it in a healthy way, so if I were to eat mostly meat should I be taking some vegi alternative etc. Or should I just do reps on hand barbels, watch the calories i eat, and take multivitamins?
Edit: I am also reading throught he stickies on nutrition now, but they are confusing the heck out of me ._.

If you understood this, you would not ask:
"Is it possible to lose weight fairly fast, on a diet that doesn't consist mostly of greens?"
You'd understand that weight loss and rate of weight loss is correlated primarily with caloric amount and not type.

If you're worried about proper nutrition, avoiding vegetables is your first mistake.

Then I'd stop worrying about losing weight quickly.
Make permanent lifestyle adjustments one step at a time and allow things to happen naturally.

Well first of all I guess part of what I am asking is, is there a pill/powder/anything that would be good to "help" weightloss, but obviously not actualy make me lose weight.
Can I just eat certain fruits/meat and scratch out veggies? I have read the stickies and they go on about calories and good foods to eat. But is there a specific regimen anyone would suggest, I have looked on the net off and on for years, and alot of the diets seem to be all over the place, and I want to find things that actualy work not "sound like they work"
One other random question, I see that soy/skim milk is what is suggested, would Chocolate soy milk have the same nutrients/calories as normal, or due to added cocoa or whatever they use, is it different. I just can't stand to drink either of them plain./

The problem more or less is I am alergic to most suggested things. The only veggies I can really handle in small bits are raw green peppers, as weird as it might sound even celery makes my throat hurt/sting.

Nope.
Especially if you don't have the fundamentals in place to start with. You'd be wasting your money.

Sure you can.
Nobody here is going to tell you what you can and can't do.
If you're interested in losing fat while being healthy, veggies are an important ingredient.
If you're simply worried about losing weight... than they're not.

Ahh, so you missed the part in the stickies where it explains that there is no One Right Way of going about things.
Stop looking for an Answer to your problems. You're making this much more complicated than necessary.
All diets work. It's just a matter of which are you able to adhere to.
The less rigid, the better.
Control calories and eat balanced, natural foods as much as possible.

Suggested where?

What exactly are you allergic to in the veggies. Maybe a supplement like greens + would do you well, but not sure, you'd have to run it by your doc.

That isn't what I am implying, that "there is one amazing diet". But when looking for diets there are lots of bogus ones, and some tried and true ones.
But I guess I will try to put something together with the information from the nutrition thread.

Suggested where?
Quote:
Food Group -Milk and Dairy
Choose Daily -Skim milk, 1% milk and buttermilk, nonfat yogurt, nonfat frozen yogurt, fat-free cheese, low fat cottage cheese, soy milk, soy cheese
Choose No More Than 3-4 Times a Week - 2% milk, 4% cottage cheese, ice milk, light cream cheese, light sour cream, low fat yogurt, sherbet, low fat cheese
Choose for Special Occasions Only - Whole milk, regular cheese, cream, half-and-half, most non-dairy creamers, real and non-dairy whipped cream, cream cheese, sour cream, ice cream, custard style yogurt
And I guess I am going to have to visit a doctor to check out what it is I'm alergic to in vegetables, because it just seems I am alergic to way to many.

As long as you are taking no other bad food, and many of fruits for everyday, and have a good sleeping habit then you will absorb all the nutrients your body need. Actually it is very hard to lose weight quickly, I advise you to have also discipline on what you are eating. Stay fit all the time by taking care first of your body needs, vitamins, consult your doctor first, if possible twice a month before taking any medicine.

Well I've started eating better, mostly just drinking a truck load of water a day, not eating as much, and having cereal in the morning as I have never eaten breakfast before. And have replaced thing such as eating maybe fries or macoroni and cheese with a small ceasar salad (I know its not the best salad, but Its what I enjoy) ^_^ I've managed to lose 4 pounds since I started eating better >.> not sure if it was me changing my diet or I was just bloated or something..

Never ever has calorie counting thing worked for me. I have been following hundreds of different diets, and I have only been wasting my time and money. I have lost over 50 pounds as soon as I found the right solution.
To lose weight, you only need to care about metabolism. THE ONLY THING! no worries about exercising or calories. Just metabolism. Your friend number one for weight loss.
And then, when it comes to metabolism, there are many ways to increase it:
- drink more water;
- eat more often;
- eat regularly, 2-3 hours between the meals;
- eat breakfast;
... and many more. This is the way to go!

Calorie counting isn't a thing. You, being a human, are bound by the laws of thermodynamics. Thus, being in a caloric deficit will always lead to fat loss.

None of that is supported by research.

Actually your body will cannibalize more than just fat. Without a nutrient rich diet it will breakdown muscle protein also which is counterproductive to burning calories.

There is a lot of disagreement to the effects of eating breakfast and meal frequency. Studying the human body is not an accurate science. There are many factors that can easily change outcomes. A lot of this information comes from studying the body's biochemistry and extrapolating it to the real world.
For example, Insulin and Cortisol play important roles in storing fat. Insulin suppresses the hormone known as cortisol, which is responsible for muscle wasting. The downside is that insulin is also responsible for fat storage. Whenever you eat food, insulin is released but if eliminated, you would also cut off all of its anabolic effects and its ability to store energy in the muscles.
Breakfast takes place after your body has fasted for up to 6-12 hours, depleted its glycogen stores, and the catabolic hormone cortisol is at its highest point. Your goal is to place your body back on the right track. This is why people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Skipping it causes you to waste muscle at a much faster rate. Which again is counterproductive to burning fat.
Many people encourage a higher meal frequency, which must be healthy, to help keep your insulin levels more steady through the day. Frequently what happens is people starve themselves throughout the day then gorge at night prior to a sleep cycle causing insulin levels to spike. At this point your body no longer requires the amount of calories consumed and stores more of it as fat. Especially if you are eating low glycemic carbs that are converted quickly by insulin for fat storage.
