Weight Loss Programs

Atkins, Fit for Life, Jenny Craig – there are almost as many weight loss programs as people who want to lose weight! Sharing our experiences here will help us all get a handle on the wealth of information — and misinformation — out there.

No diet for me That word just oozes restriction, frustration, and failure. I'm just eating things I know I should and not eating as much of the things I know I shouldn't.

I'm currently following Body For Life. Although not so much a Diet as a means to change your lifestyle (Something you could actually follow every day for the rest of your life)

So far in 11 days I've lost 8 pounds of fat and gained a pound of muscle

totally my own diet.

i discovered a BIG part of my calorie load was breads. so I stopped eating anything with "real" (yummy, white, whole grain, potato, whatever) breads on a regular basis (maybe once a week only). I also stopped eating 2 bowls of cereal every morning which I'd done since I was a young teen.

that has been a big chunk of my weight loss. I realised this when for about 3 weeks I started eating whole wheat (full fat) bread again on a regular basis and didn't lose an ounce. I went back to my previous diet and started losing a little again.

Mainly, tho, I'm doing a portion control thing.

Not actually dieting, just changed my eating habits completely. Less junk food, very limited sweets and treats, no sugary pop, instead loads of water and green tea. Normal sized portions, and having an eye on calories. That's it, and it's been working okay so far.

I'm not a fan of all those trendy diet programs out there... Prepacked meals don't teach you how to eat in real situations. Better to learn the sort of foods and portions so that when you go off those prepackaged meals you don't gain all the weight back.

It's very strict but I'm not hungry which is amazing. I could never lose weight without a military style program like this!

For me prepackaged meals didn't work because they'd make me terribly sick if that's all I was eating. I'd eat one then get a sick stomach and a headache every single day because they couldn't keep my blood sugar up.

Plus you don't get as much in the way of real nutrition as when you eat fresh foods.

Not to mention the price

No diets for me. I'm just really focusing on eating foods that will enable me to be my best with a focus on getting enough produce in my diet because if I don't pay attention, I can go about a week with absolutely zero veggies. Bad, I know, but that's what I'm working with. I try for some fruit or veggie each meal and then I cut out obvious bad foods (though, I do eat small dessert 3 days a week). Hoping this continues to work.
