i want to try the optifast diet because you can buy them online first i want to try the cambridge diet but that you cant buy online
with the cambridge diet you can only take 3 measl a day
but with the optifast you must take 5 meals a day now my guestion is can is take only 3 meals a day with optifast just like cambridge diet
and one more thing is i cant find a on the optifast website how the calories are and how much you must take per day so if soemone knows that would be great
so waht i am looking for is how do you use optifast diet
i want something that is the same like cambridge diet with only 3 meals a day
so are their any diets that are like the same as cambridge diet and only uses 3 mals a day with only 500 calories and that you can buy online

Eat as many meals as you want a day, as long as you stay within your calorie count. You don't need any shakes, which are high in sodium anyway, along with whatever canned food you're consuming, it'll skyrocket. Go for healthy choices and that includes almost everything, minus fastfood/canned or prepackaged food. (unless you read the labels thoroughly)
You can join any site like sparkpeople, to name one, where you can insert every single item you consume, and it automatically gives you your nutrition info. So you can keep track of your carbs, protein and fat intake.

Also Optifast is a very carefully structured program. Why would you pay good money for a program and then not follow that program? IMO that's just throwing money away.
It's not just about the number of meals per day you eat, it's about the total calories and nutrients you consume.
It seems to me that you're more focused on desperation weight loss, than in a lifetime permanent solution to losing weight and being healthy. |

Rep Power: 6 | | I have to disagree in a way with the number of meals thing. I think you're right, just over simplifying it. Yes it does come down to calories, but you need something you can maintain and it does sort of help. It has to do with your insulin levels. If you eat big meals theres more insulin is released. The more that's released the more it crashes. And there comes your cravings. More consistantly sized meals helps keep the insulin levels fairly level to fend off the cravings, therefore helping with weight loss. I'm not correcting kara or anything, she is right, just adding a little bit of info that may help
So agreeing with the above, but if you can I would say eat more then 3 meals a day :P

every one thanks for the responses i know its a better thing to start eating healthy food
but the first thing is i want to lose weight with a diet than can help losing weight fast i know that i might get in to trouble after that but i have all the trus that i dont get it so far
i am struggeling all my life with beeing over weight i still want to try this out
i agree with all the replies
but can soemone still answer the question that i had asked
this is what my plan is
i weight 136 kg thats almost 300 pounds i want to lose 40 kg so i want make a start to lose 30 kg with this diet optifast and lose the other 10 with just normal healthy food and exercise
i hope soemone can give me the info about the optifast how many meals you must take etc
i want to take meals a day just like cambridge diet is that possible or not
and how many weeks you have to follow this meals

The short answer to your question is no. The optifast diet is specifically designed for you to get the nutrients you need while providing you with enough calories to lose weight. Believe it or not, too few calories in your diet can slow/stop weight loss, becuase your body thinks it is starving and holds on to every calorie you eat. If you don't get in all 5 shakes/bars you will NOT be succesfull on optifast. Aside from not losing weight, you will feel tired, faint, hungry, etc. I understand wanting to "kick start" weight loss when you have a lot to lose. It is easy for people who don't have serious weight problems to say "just eat right, you WILL lose weight", but the problem with that is a lot of us are genetically prone to obesity, and aside from that we have an "addiction" to food. That's not an "excuse", it's just the reality. The old "eat healthy and excercise" doesn't work for us.
If you are dedicated to losing weight a program like Optifast may be helpful to you, but all of the studies show that the people who fail are the people who don't follow the diet to a T. I also wouldn't reccommend buying optifast or any long term "liquid diet" online as you REALLY need the supervision of doctors. It is NOT SAFE, I repeat NOT SAFE to do a full fast without medical supervision.
The length of time someone stays on Optifast just depends on the amount of weight they have to lose.
