Rep Power: 0 | | | How and When do you Weigh Yourself? Whenever I begin dieting and losing weight, I always wonder when and how often to weigh myself and which way is the best to keep me grounded and on track towards my goal.
I've gone through periods before when I've weighed myself EVERY morning and obsessed by how slowly the scale moves. There are other times I've weighed myself once a week and the drawback to that has been that, if it's weigh day and I'm feeling a little fat, I'll just tell myself I'll put it off until tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow, and then I just fall off track of my diet.
Once, at weight watchers, they told me that people who come in for their weigh-in on Mondays tend to do the best because on weekends, when you're more likely to cheat on your diet, you're reminded that you have a weigh-in on Monday and stay more committed, whereas those who weigh-in on Friday have an easier time cheating on their diet knowing that their weigh-in is a week away and they have time to make up for indiscretions.
So I wanted to know what you guys out there think. How do you weight yourself? What works best for you? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I weigh myself every day when I wake up. I find it's useful in keeping me on track but I don't let myself obsess over the ups and downs of the week. Every Monday I weigh in and that is all I focus on. Did I lose weight this week and this month?
Lately I've been focusing much more on my weekly calorie count and my running times. I think those are a much healthier number to focus on than just weight. |

Rep Power: 72 | | | I weigh myself once a day, in the morning, after I get out of the shower, before I get dressed.
That's my official weight for the day and I log it and don't obsess. |

Rep Power: 8 | | | I weigh in twice a week, on Sunday and Thursday...often enough to keep a close watch, but not get overly concerned about numbers. First thing in the AM, before dressing and eating. Works for me...but I am in maintenance.

Rep Power: 17 | | I weight myself semi-randomly, although I expect my 'low' to be right after I get up in the morning. I've got a scale with a BF% tracker so lately I've been using it at different times just to get an idea of the daily variance.
If I were being more methodical about it, I'd pick one day a week - doesn't matter which one - and then weigh myself right after getting up in the morning once/week and recording that as the 'official' record. Anything else is just for the sake of science Or something. |

Rep Power: 16 | | | I think I'm going to start making a habit of weighing myself first thing every day. Just to keep a sort of running tally. I'm not too concerned about the numbers, more so about how I look and feel. I'm probably going to start keeping an official weight log every Monday like the WW cats do.
Otherwise, I usually just hop on the scale whenever the urge takes me, and I usually don't dwell on the number too long. I'm much more likely to sulk over a binge than a bad scale number. |

Rep Power: 33 | | I weigh in once a week, either Friday or Saturday, naked, after having a shower and visiting the bathroom. I used to weigh every day and it just made me go paranoid, so I stopped it. Once a week does nicely for me now |

Rep Power: 3 | | | First thing in the morning, after I pee. Twice a week, on Sunday and Monday. Then I average the two and that's my official weight for the week.
I've also got the scales that measure your bodyfat %, but it's not accurate at all for me so I ignore that. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I actually don't weigh myself very often. Hardly ever actually, I don't know why it's just something I never felt the need to know. Kinda just went by what I saw in the mirror. :/ |

Rep Power: 0 | | Technically speaking weekly. But I never fail to break down around Wednesdayish just to ensure that spoonful of potato salad didn't amount to a 5 pound weight gain. Usually it just puts my mind at ease. Other times it does turn out I looked at a piece of chocolate cake the wrong way and I'd better not skip out on the dance class after all. http://getalegupforlife.blogspot.com |

Rep Power: 0 | | I weigh myself every day before I shower.
If the weight is less than yesterday, I log it on my graph. If it's the same, or a pound heavier due to whatever reason, I ignore it until it's 1 pound lighter again. It's quite a motivational way to do it. I look forward to entering something on my graph. everything I enter is more weight loss.
so for example if i'm 300lbs on monday, I enter that, but on tuesday I'm 301, and wednesday I'm 300 again, I don't get to enter any weights on my graph, and that motivates me to stick with it so I can enter a new weight on my graph ASAP. So on thursday or friday when I get to 299, I can enter that, and I cant enter anything again until I hit 298. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
