| One that's worked extremely well for my husband is celery + hummus.
Whenever he wants a snack - that's easy, and a whole lot better than chips & dip!
I also keep the house stocked with a good supply of apples & string cheese.
For impulsive eating those are the two best in my household. However, if you like veggies you can pre-chop up veggies and keep them in the fridge (possibly in water) for on demand snacking.
I also keep cottage cheese and Greek Yogurt (it generally has more protein than 'normal' yogurt) on hand.
I also pre-make up a high protein waffle batter and keep that in the fridge for something quick.
Also, romaine lettuce & shredded cheese for salads on demand. We get a really yummy feta & olive Greek dressing from whole foods to go with it.
The rest of the fridge depends on me looking at cookbooks and planning for actual meals. Chicken, ground meat, seasonal fruit & veggies (One day DH will try acorn squash... and like it...) cheese, butter, cream, broth/stock etc.
I also get frozen diced onions, frozen strawberries & blueberries, protein powder (I make smoothies with water, protein powder & frozen fruit), wild rice, fun stuff like that. |
