Rep Power: 4 | | I'm doing Atkins This is a real easy way of eating that I could do forever. I really love meats and cheeses and I know that the protein will keep me full~I'm doing pretty good thus far...I just need to drink more water and quit the diet soda!! Who else is on team Atkins??

Rep Power: 0 | | Anything other than a balanced diet (i.e., eating some carbs, for starters) is not healthy in the long run. Do you exercise? Have you kept track of your food to see how much fat and cholesterol (probably too much) you're eating? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | On it I'm on it as well and fiind it to be manageable. I feel better than ever and have zero sugar cravings. Don't beat yourself up on the calories to much. If you get to craving something good eat some fat. |

Rep Power: 19 | | I was for five years
It worked, and I lost 70 lbs, however it was definitely challenging to keep up, and I really didn't get enough fiber in my diet. I've since switched over to a more 'moderate' diet. Protein focused, and I still eat meats and cheeses, but I also focus on getting enough fiber and non-starchy vegetables. My LDL cholesterol dropped over 70 points, and it allows me to incorporate wild rice and pasta and the occasional slice of sprouted grain bread in there while still keeping weight down.
Avocado is still one of my favorite snacks too!
Good luck with the weight loss! |

Rep Power: 0 | | biscuitlover.... you need to buy a copy of the book and read it properly. i read it 3 times before i decided to do it. don;t just listen to what other people tell you to do make sure you read the book thouroughly. have a look on the atkins website for the basic information |

Eating 2 helpings of meat and putting melted cheese on things is NOT Atkins. Unless you've read the book and follow the plan from the book, then you're not doing Atkins.
The plan is a lot more than just "eat meat". |

I have tried Atkins for a while - but I got really sick of what I felt was too much meat, cheese, eggs and fat!
I found a bit of a moderated version - still high protein, low carbs / low GI - but up to 100g carbs per day (Which I think may be more Atkins maintenance phase..?), I have use an approx guideline of 1200 calories / 5300KJ! Much more likable for me - as I really like fruit and veges & lots of salads! Plus I eat hummus, legumes, tomato, avocado, olives etc. I like variety.
I find I have less cravings following this kind of eating plan - feel quite settled in it - coming up to 8 weeks now.
Another thing that I think helps me (and supposedly speeds up weight loss - has worked so far), is a "free day" roughly every 4 weeks. So, that's a day when I do eat sushi (my favourite), banana and yes other carbs. Takes the body out of ketosis for the day. Apparently, Ketosis can slow down the metabolism every 3-4 weeks, your body thinks its going into starvation mode - maybe that doesn't happen so much if you eat more protein and fat????
I dunno, am just trying to doing something a bit more "moderate" and everyday - that still helps me with my "carb addiction".
Often I'm more thinking about maintenance - could I continue with this lifestlyle choice etc? Am I eating to suppress my emotions? What's best for my overall health? That kind of stuff.
But if I wasn't on this eating plan - I would likely still be bingeing, feeling sad and depressed and making promises to myself.
Have been to OA before, and to take a leaf from that page - I am enjoying a little bit of daily recovery, which I am planning to hold onto! Also, I think it really helps hanging out at the forum - keeps me in touch with the reality that I'm not the only one ignoring a few urges now and again, lol! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Oh, I hardly ever have cheese now.
Starting at 202 pounds have lost 21.8 pounds in 7 1/2 weeks, am 5 foot 2. So still have quite a way to go, but this needs to be a workable life style for me! |

Rep Power: 3 | | Atkins is awesome.
I started a high protein low carb diet back in 2005. I lost so much weight and longterm, it stayed off. I recently fell off the wagon but plan to follow this again as I know it works! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Good on you Flairforfashion!
Am hoping that once I am closer to an ideal weight, it won't be so hard to maintain, as it is to lose! But I agree low carb feels like a better life style |

Rep Power: 0 | | I started this diet, and after just 1 day I was really ill and couldn't get out of bed for about a week. This may have just been a coincidence or might not, but too scared to test that. I had never been so ill in my life! I mean, different diets work for different people, some people will lose loads with Atkins and others wont get on with it like me. Good luck though for everyone on it xxx | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
