Rep Power: 0 | | | Is there a best time of day to weigh yourself? I weighed myself first thing this morning, but I was curious if anytime of day os better than another. Do you retain water at different times of the day?

Rep Power: 0 | | Post Excercise weight Hi! this is actually my first post but I had a quick question for anyone that could answer it and it seem to go vaguely with this topic...
I'm just starting to lose weight after an injury left me bed-ridden and hangry right before thanksgiving. I decided to take up cycling and am able to push myself a bit and go 20 miles in about an hour and a half, not a good time by any definition but I'm just starting out and it's also on a big heavy mountain bike. Anyways, I've noticed that I can weigh myself in the morning and be maybe 228, but then I ride and weigh just for fun when I get back and then weigh 226.5. Thats a big drop for a single day right? Today I noticed Ive been around 226 for a few days, but I took a short half hour ride and when i came back i weighed again and was 223.5. I weighed multiple times because i couldnt believe it, but it was still 223.5, dont get me wrong I think it's wonderful but....
Is it normal? Is it even possible? What is happening?
I'm assuming it's just lost fluids, is that right?
Thank you for your time |

Rep Power: 13 | | | Yes, its lost water weight. A dehydrated weight is not a true measure of your body weight.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I think the best time to weigh yourself is maybe 4-6pm..because by then, you would have already eaten, drank water, excercised maybe, and have gone through your daily routine. Weighing yourselt in the morning sometimes gives me false impression, since you're weighing yourself at a time where you haven't eaten since the past 8-12hrs, and usually in the morning you're hungry for breakfast. So you weigh less in the morning as opposed to the afternoon. Idont know if its just me..but right when I wake up, and weigh myself, I weigh a pound or so less in the morning than in the afternoon.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I personally weigh myself in the morning ... and you will weigh a little less then. But, as long as you consistently weigh yourself at the same time of the day, it doesn't really matter.

Rep Power: 0 | | | I weigh myself in the morning just because I like the lower reading. I figure that as long as i weigh myself at the same time each day for my "official" weight, it doesn't really matter.
I too find that I am a pound or two heavier in the late afternoon and evening than in the morning.

Rep Power: 0 | | I agree with the Morning Ritual. In fact, I don't weigh any other time - since I Know I will be heavier after I eat and drink fluids. I read somewhere that your Morning Weight, [first thing, of course after releasing all fluids] is your True weight. That's good enough for me. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yes...I always weight in the morning, or at best on an empty stomache.

Rep Power: 0 | | | It doesn't matter when you weigh, but you should weigh consistant with that time. In my opinion...
For me I always weigh heavy in the morning for some reason. I weigh when i get home from work and it has been consistant and now routine.

Rep Power: 0 | | I weigh myself in the afternoon...I cheat myself by saying all the day's water and food is making me heavier than I would be in the morning blahblahblah excuses excuses.
Basically, weight is a fluctuating thing - it will rarely be "accurate" at one set, consistent point. Any time you weight yourself is part of the range of the fluctuations...

Rep Power: 0 | | | The key is to be consistant. First thing in the morning is fine, so is right before bed, whatever works as long as it's the same thing everyday.
