Rep Power: 0 | | | 18in4 - its not bad for me I found it posted out there somewhere, so I'm on the third day. It's not so bad, but I'm really lucky, as I like all of the foods on it. It's not a whole lot of food which is usually hard for me, but for some reason I was really motivated this time. I feel fine, yesterday (the 2nd day), I was a little tired, but I feel okay today.
It's all good food (as in, not bad for you). I feel full after all the meals for a while, it just gets tough at night (As it does on ANY diet for me). It's kind of like Atkins on steroids, except that you dont count carbs, and you get plenty of fruit.
I think the biggest problem is that it's pretty bland. You should NOT stick to this diet for more than four days, though, as there are not enough calories. I haven't reached prune juice day yet (tomorrow). That's the part I'm dreading LOL.
I recommend seasoning the foods with Mrs. Dash or something, otherwise it would be way boring. Also, if you tend to get hungry every three hours (I do) hold back one of the courses and eat it later. That helps. Yesterday, I held back the cantalopes until 3pm and that helped a LOT. It was yummy too.
Its not expensive, the foods are all readily available at the market. The hardest thing to find was the butternut squash, since it's almost out of season.
I've read that a FEW people are throwing up, gagging, etc. Let me say, if you dont like squash, tomatoes and string beans, dont do this diet. You wont have a good time, and you'll just dread it. No one should eat like that, and you wont be able to continue anyway. Find something else that works for you. There are a million diets out there, and millions of people, and everyone reacts differently to different diets. I know, because I didn't lose ONE ounce on Atkins, and I was absolutely faithful for two months, to the point of crying in frustration.
I see a lot of people saying "Dont do this diet, it's BAD for you! No diet can make you lose 18 pounds at once!", without even knowing what's on it. Actually, like I said, this is not a bad diet. I think you could even go with bigger portions if you needed to. And, if you keep your expectations low, you wont be disappointed. If you're 400 pounds, and 50 percent body fat, yes, you might actually lose that much weight, if you're a smaller body type, then of course it will be different. It will be different for everyone.
I actually dont know if I've lost any weight, since I refuse to weigh myself. I feel better though, and my clothes feel better. I'll let you know after day 4 - I'm halfway through this right now.
Bottom line (in my case) -
Not the worst diet I've ever seen, but you'll have to read it for yourself to see.
Good Luck! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Curiousity Killed the Cat I really want to try this diet and I am so curious to see if it works.... I am very bad at diets and break them after about a week. This one is 4 days and I think I should be able to do it. I need to loose 100lbs but I am settling for 50lbs right now. I am trying to loose at least 10lbs by my 30th bday which is the 25th of this month! I think I am going to do this diet but I would like to know how much money was spent on the items that are needed (fruits and veggies). Anyone who can help me with an approximate would be doing me a great favor! Thanks. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | done w 18in4 - it wasn't bad I woke up today and it felt so great to have my usual breakfast - Eggbeaters, red peppers, onions and a teensy bit of cheese with some coffee.
What I really would have liked was to have a big cheesy omelet and toast slathered with butter, but since I lost weight on the 18in4, I didn't want to de-rail what I had done all week.
Bottom line - it wasn't bad. I actually doubled the portions of the vegetables at the end, since I'm taller and have a lot of muscle mass. I also used some garlic salt. The worst thing was the prune juice. GAH!! Who thought UP that vile stuff!!? I didn't do two cups on the last dinner, I could only stomach one. Anyway, I know 18in4 worked though, since the jeans that usually make my eyes bulge fit pretty well now, which is the goal that I was after, and I felt GREAT the 4rth day.
I think you could actually even do this for two days at a time several days a month. You ARE eating, you get plenty of fresh fruit and veggies and meat (although not as much as I'd like). And if you need a kick start, do the whole thing. If you're bigger, I would definitely recommend doubling, or even tripling the portions of the vegetables (not the meat), and spacing them out over the course of the day. Green tea helps with the hunger pangs (for me, those were at night, as usual).
You can get this diet for 2-5 bucks on E-bay. Even if you find that you dont want to do it, that price is definitely worth at least a look, because if it couldn't help you, it could definitely help a friend.
I'm going to try to do it again at the end of the month, and be very very careful in between, so it's back to counting points for me!
Good luck everyone, with whatever diet you do! (I always found Weight Watchers was the best!)

Rep Power: 0 | | It is quite obvious that half the posts here are from the owner of the '18in4' diet making up stories of moderate success to great success to lure people in.
There is no POSSIBLE way to lose 18 pounds in 4 days. Like a previous poster said, 18 pounds is 63,000 calories. A majority of people do not burn 3,000 calories a day, so even if you didnt eat at all youd only lose 12,000 calories or roughly 3.5 pounds.
So if you lose more, it is because you are dehydrated. As soon as you drink water you'll gain the weight back.

Rep Power: 0 | | 18-in-4??? I would just like stay i stumbled upon this site when searching reviews upon this diet as i was concidering trying it myself. However after reading what people have said and after doing a little digging. I have found serveral different sites which claim to have incredibly similar results to what the 18-in-4 diet boasts. They are all written in a similar format and all by a random handsome man with the quotatiion "Hi my name is .... and im going to show you how you can loose" blah blah blah. I am pretty certain its a scam...of course your going to loose weight quickly if u eat nothing and drin lots of water....its whats commonly known as anorexia...i certainly wont be trying any of these so called miracale diets so thanks for the heads up fellow dieters.

Michael | Uhm, nope, not even close, never met the guy - dont even know his name, I'd have to look it up to tell ya. Besides, I should think it would be really difficult for him to lurk in ALL the forums out there on this diet. (I found hundreds of them.) I found the diet posted out there, and since you do NOT starve, decided to try it. I dont do starvation diets, or pills, or anything unhealthy.
If you haven't actually read the diet, dont judge it.
18in4 is a catchy name, I think it's probably designed to grab your attention. I'm not stupid, I didn't expect to lose 18 pounds. Yup - the initial weight is water weight, but then there was plus some. (For me). I gained some back, but I was prepared for that.
You get a good amount to eat. I said before, if you're bigger, you should adjust up, and I absolutely do not recommend the portions for really big people.
No smart dieter should expect a miracle. You should know your body, and adjust accordingly. This isn't a miracle diet, and it's not for everybody. What it is, though, is a decent start, at least it was for me.
You'll have to read it, and judge for yourself. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | too much, too fast I think that losing 18lbs in 4 days is unnatural and definitely not healthy. If anything all you are losing is water and are sure to gain the weight back, I know how tempting quick fixes can be, but the truth is if it worked everyone would be doing it and no one would be "fat"! The best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat right, keeping your metabolism high is the only way to acheive this! |

Rep Power: 0 | | That diet sounds scary and unhealthy! I like the Daily Skinny because it has daily updates about diet and nutrition that help me live a healthy lifestyle. Even if you do lose 18 pounds in 4 days, wouldn't you rather be healthy? |

Rep Power: 0 | | Basically I thought I'd have my bit on this.
I've just finished 4 days of this. I don't feel lethargic, or hungry. Quite opposite, I feel like I've got energy. I'm not going to dispute that it's not the healthiest way to lose weight - as a university student I'm not stupid. But if people try to claim they don't know what it's like trying to lose weight and watching it fall off s.l.o.w.l.y and sometimes not at all, despite your best efforts, then they're lying. It's so frustrating!
To add to other people's statements, I never expected to lose 18lbs. But after 4 days I lost about 10lbs. I don't think that's overly unhealthy (I don't have the patience for 1/2lbs a week, judge me as you will).
I think that people need to leave people to their own devices - if they want to do this, then let them. Can you really say it's any more unhealthy than Atkins (pretty much all meat) or Slimming World (all the carbs you can cram)? |

Rep Power: 0 | | | 18in4 it does works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello to all people who are critical about 18in4 this truly works!!!!!!!!
I have started this program in about two week period and the results I got is not only the weight loss but my whole body is melting. As a fan of many diets previously I have to say this is my favorite. If any of you want to loose some weight please buy it and stick to it. It is truly working, its not a joke. I would not take time to write the apprisal if it was a scam!!!!!!!! However, I have burn myself on many diets which promise me a great results but in the end stage I did not loose a pound and I only got depressed. This program costs me only 27 dollarsand it is very easy to follow, meals are good, easy to prepare. As a person who like to much I'm free of this habit. Remember if you are strugling with loosing the weight it is only way to start, don't question yourself just do it and I promise you will be very happy. But remember stick to this program like is recommended and you will see the results soon.
with love
