Rep Power: 0 | | | Bill Phillips' "Body For Life" Recently, I got a copy of the book "Body for Life" authored by Bill Phillips and Michael D'Orso. The book is more or less a guide to teach people the importance of healthy diet and exercise and has a 'strategy' to be followed for 12 weeks towards working for a toned body and healthy lifestyle.
I haven't finished reading through the book yet, but I'm interested in the rotating work-out system (Cardio on day 1, Upper body weight training on day 2 , and lower body weight training on day 3, and repeat).
I guess I'm just curious to know if anyone has worked with this program or a one simular. To me, the exercise part of it sounds like a good routine to get into , but I was hoping for some other people's input or experiences. |

I'm doing the body for life thing program right now, yeah its great to get you in a routine of working out. The only things I changed was the cardio part ( I do alot more) and I dont take some of the supplements sugguested, although I do take the myoplex shakes. So far its been pretty good and seeing all the pictures of the people who have succeeded really motivate you. |

I'm glad you had positive input. When I was reading through some of the book I was starting to get worried since a lot of it promotes myolplex products. I was beginning to think that I'd bought an expensive advertisement. Its good to here that the program works well. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Body for Life I am not sure if this is an international program I assume it is.
Has anyone else tried it or know about it?
The principles seems pretty sound. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Body-for-LIFE Both my wife and I did Body-for-LIFE in 2004 and it's a great program.
I know hundreds of people who have done the program with great success! The great thing about the book is that it covers all the important aspects of a successful weight loss program...the motivational aspect, the nutrition, and the exercise. So when all of this is put together, the results can be very dramatic (as seen on their website).
If it's something you are interested in trying, I'd suggest going on the Body-for-LIFE Cruise (see bodyforlifecruise.com - Home) -- you can learn from many of the people who have achieved great success on the program, and meet some great friends who are all health and fitness minded. For both those just starting out and those wanting a motivating trip to get into shape for...

Rep Power: 0 | | Body for Life is a healthy program. Basically, you have a palm-sized serving of protein, a fistful size of carbs, and some veggies at lunch and dinner. Snacks are about half the size of the protein and carbs. Not much in the way of added fats. You do use some flaxseeds or flaxseed oil, for the EFA's, if I remember right.
Although healthy, it's pretty restrictive. If you like that kind of structure, you might like it. |

Rep Power: 8 | | Body for life So I have recently been reading up on this "Body for life" diet and I was wondering if any one has heard of it or has even tried it?! On this diet you need to buy there "myoplex"(sp?) powders and bars...but I know this girl who got sick off that stuff. (You only take there replacment foods 2-3 times per day) But can i subsitute the myoplex for my vanilla soy protien? Is that okay to do??
Please get back to me!
Thanks |

Rep Power: 26 | | | You don't have to use there stuff - it's just a suggestion. I think the links Barbara gave you will help a lot.
Good luck! |

Rep Power: 16 | | I have done it and had friends do it. You can do it without the powders and all that jive... Instead of using their "meal replacement" junk, just eat another meal. IIRC it's 5 small meals a day that they preach, along with interval training (slightly different than the HIIT that is stickied in the exercise forum).
You never NEED to buy the protein powders and bars and all that jive. Go to Sams (Or BJ's or Costco or whatever your local "lots-o-crap" store is) and get that big green bag of boneless/skinless breasts, and throw it in your freezer. Cheaper, and it doesn't taste like you're trying to choke down snot. |

Rep Power: 0 | | It's not really a diet. It's more about building muscle/strength/health. If you are going to follow the meal recommendations, you will be consuming quite a few calories. The point being, that you are building muscle and will need more fuel. I was doing it earlier this year, working with a personal trainer, and trying to eat 6 meals a day. I never used any of their supplements. It was very hard work, and I was sore all the time. I loved it! I did not lose a lot of scale weight, but I did lose a lot of inches, looked and felt great. I only stopped because I blew my knee out running (I'm an old lady), and spent the summer recovering from surgery. |
