Five frogs are sitting on a log. Four decide to jump off.
How many are left?
Answer: five.
Why?
Because the frogs just made a decision, that was all. There's a difference between
deciding and
doing, and as the old Chinese proverb says, "talk don't cook rice". The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and my past roads qualifiy as an interstates. Anybody else ever say
"I will start my diet Monday, and Monday never comes? I hate to say "be sick and tired of being sick and tired", but it does fit. You will never quick smoking, drinking, getting
fat, etc until you are honest with yourself enough to follow through.
There is more to it than just this. There are more variables:
1. Breaking habits. This is breaking the "bowl of Ben & Jerry's for Must See TV" on Thursday night, or "all you can eat night" at the local pizzaria with the gang.
2. Enviroment. If your significant other or friends eat like a horse around you, maybe you should not be around them so much. If you work at a fast food restaurant in the fry station, maybe you should transfer to cashier.
3. Modifying belief system. Let's face it. There is a report about the newest and greatest
weight loss break throughs every day. Our beliefs about
weight loss are in a constant state of flux. There are some simple truths. (read:
http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weigh...ome-truth.html )
4. Have a support system. This board is a great start, but we are not online 24 hrs a day. (if so, get some additional help

). Good support starts with your love ones, friends, or support groups.
5. Have a plan and realistic goals. Forget about 6 months from now. You may be dead. Focus on today. That is all you have moderate control over anyway. Setting goals is great, just so long as they are realistic. "Unrealistic expectations are premeditated resentments"
anonymous. If you set an unrealistic
goal,
what do you think will happen if you fail? I can tell you. Triple Whopper w/cheese and a large chocolate shake chaser. Been there, should own a franchise.
Losing weight and keeping it off is no easy task. It is nothing to be taken lightly and you should have a plan, along with contingency for holidays and special events. Hope this helps.
