Weight Loss Programs

Atkins, Fit for Life, Jenny Craig – there are almost as many weight loss programs as people who want to lose weight! Sharing our experiences here will help us all get a handle on the wealth of information — and misinformation — out there.

I have been on WW for 10wks and have lost 25lbs! I think it is the best way to go because you can eat what you like and still lose weight.

Go to dwlz.com to see about more 'unofficial' WW. Or you can even buy the start-up kit on e-bay to get a really good start out.

Thanks everyone for the great advice!!!

I saw the kits online, and I think they were going from 60-90 bucks!! AHHHHH.. I don't have that kind of money.

I also went to a free meeting to sit in, it seemed so hokey and fake.... but they wouldn't let me pay for a few meetings to see if I liked it.. They wanted 20 dollars to sign up, then they wanted meto pay for a 12 week package... I was like.... see ya lady...

Hehehe I'll do my best counting calories and see how I go.. at least it's free!

You should wait until they have free registration, because then you would only have to pay for the first meeting and then the books to start. If you get the complete food guide and the complete eating out guide. I am sure someone can tell you based on your weight how many points you should be taking in. I have done weight watchers and lost 16 pounds in 10 weeks!!!! I love it, but it was a lot of money. I stopped going and gained like 10 pounds, however since being on this sight I have lost a lot. I say that to say.....this sight provides me with more and free motivation that I did not get at the meetings. I wish you luck!!!!

I think the main reason weight watchers works so well is because of all of the support you get! It's great! I signed up before and only posting 1 thread in the forum thing, I got tons of replies! They're all very nice there too, and they understand what you're going through, so you're never alone.

Who is currently on Weight Watchers?

My intial meeting is tomorrow, and my first weigh in is August 10th (due to vacations) we are doing weight watchers at work.

I was wondering who else is on this plan? I've followed points before, and am trying to currently, but have never been to a meeting.

What to expect???

I stopped going to WW because the time I was available I really didn't click with the group at all.. they just came across as phony to me and didn't like them.. (the leader I had was a person who desperately wanted to be an actress and never ever stopped performing...

at a meeting, and not sure if WW at work is different, you go -- sign in -- get any literature that may be giving this week... Get weighed (I would also get measured as well if they are doing that- because that tends to be a more accurate assessment of how you are doing) your weight gets recorded on your card.. Generally this is done in private, or at least out of earshot of others.

And you go have a seat and the group leader will talk about the subject du jour. Members are then free to discuss thier challenges from the week, or celebrate their successes (that's where the phoniness came in - Oh I lost 10 pounds - everyone cheer!! - I'm cynical...) Once the group discussion is done - -generally took no moe than an hour.. you are free to go.

If you've got a good group, and since it's at work you might just, you;ll enjoy it and it's a good supportive environment...

Good luck and have fun

Thank you for the feedback. I too don't like phonyness - but I think the work thing will make things so much easier. I had the introductory meeting this week - and we had the corporate leader (whom we really liked) but she just sat in for someone else who is on vacation.

I'm just hoping and praying this really works for me - I don't want to waste the money!!!!

I cannot really say I am "on" WW because we simply don't have meetings in our area (Currently living in Gibraltar) but I do eat WW ...

The collection of convenience foods from WW is just amazing here. Believe it or not, some people even eat WW food since it is better than other convenience foods. A good example is Chicken Tikka Masala .. there is no ready-made product which is simply as good as the producs from WW...

I was in a meeting just before i moved to Gibraltar and from that meeting I know how many points I am allowed to eat ... I don't need more

According to here:

http://www.starling-fitness.com/arch...ight-watchers/

Less than 150 pounds = 18-25 Points
150 to 174 pounds = 20-27 Points
175 to 199 pounds = 22-29 Points
200 to 224 pounds = 24-31 Points
225 to 250 pounds = 26-33 Points
Over 250 pounds = 28-35 Points

Wink Core Or Flex

I did Flex for years and recently switched to Core. It worked great for me. I was so tired of writing the same things down everyday and tired of measuring and weighing. I love being able to eat ALL veggies and not having to count them (corn particularly). I can eat more than a cup of spaghetti. I use 93% ground beef, wheat pasta, and make my own sauce from tomato sauce and spices. I also learned a great snack at my meeting that is totally core ... one box of chocolate and one box of white chocolate sugar free jello pudding, one can of nonfat evaporated milk and 1 1/2 cups of nonfat milk. Just make sure you listen to your body, and stop when you're comfortable. I still struggle with that one.

Hope this helps.
