Rep Power: 0 | | Well thanks Yeah ... it is a HUGE amount of weight to lose in that short of time, it cannot be healthy. I have decided though that I am going to do South Beach - you get healthy fats and healthy carbs, and i still get my veggies and lean meats. The only thing that will be hard is no bread or anything like that for 2 weeks! Yikes! But I can do it!! I MUST haha
hanks for the info CMS it was very helpful!! |

Rep Power: 37 | | Hello there. I just wanted to tell you about my experience with Atkins. I lost 10lbs the first week during the induction phase. Of course much of that was water and afterward I was losing 2-3lbs a week. I know everyone's body chemistry is different, but I honestly never felt better on any diet. My doctor told me to keep up with what I was doing, so just keep an open mind when you "hear bad things." The great thing about Atkins is that you do get to eat more natural fats which helped curve my appetite. I started losing cravings for bread, fast food, and sugar. Of course I was happy to keep real cheese in my diet. I had more energy too. People tend to assume that you need to eat fatty meats to lose weight on Atkins. I actually chose lean meats, veggie and turkey burgers, lots of chicken salad, and green salads. You'd be surprised how healthy you can eat on Atkins, and I've never ate more vegetables in my life then on that diet. So as long as you don't go overboard, it's worth a try, you can always stop at any time. I am actually going to start it back up again this week, so if you have questions about meal planning, I have a few easy recipes for meals. |

Rep Power: 37 | | Hello! I'm new to the site and am looking for some fellow low carbers to communicate with. I love the Atkins diet! Not sure if you've read Dr. Atkins book, but I suggest it. It will help you understand what myths are out there and what to believe. Don't believe the urban legends. hehe I've done Atkins before and had really good results and I never felt better. I'm just starting it again today, so if you want to share recipes or anything, let me know. Are you doing the induction phase? That's what I'm doing until I get closer to my goal. Good luck and keep up the good work! 10lbs, way to go!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | My sister is in phase two of South Beach diet right now and has lost more than 5 lbs (that's saying a lot because she didn't have much to take off - she looks like a model - I don't have the same genes lol) She really recommends it. She says she cooks a lot on it, so if you don't mind that, go ahead with that one. Then again, I cook just to keep myself eating healthy food. Otherwise, it's straight to Carl's Jr...McDonald's... Jack in the Box...etc. |

I saw on walmart's website that theres a video coming out october 12th that teaches you how to turn body fat into energy through an atkins program. I wanna check it out, cause i think it may help. has anyone heard of it? | Yes, I've been on Atkins since Jan 1-04. I have gone from 210 to 135 (goal). 10 pounds has to be put in perspective - what percentage of your weight is that? How much do you want to lose? How "good" have you been? My hub. bought me an Atkins kit (by my request) at Walmart the Christmas of 03 - that's what started me off - whatever works - go for it! |

The average American is getting anywhere from 200-300 g a day, which is why the whole low carb thing came out. I know a lot of you are Canadian so you're probably just fine. Carbohydrates are one of the body's macronutrients, which the body needs to survive, along with water, lipids, protein. If the body doesn't get enough carbs it has to look other places to find them. And it goes to the muscles. The muscles are infused with water and carbs. So what happens if you're on a low carb or no carb diet and aren't getting 125-175 g a day is the body will lose muscle. So a lot of the weight you may think you are losing is water weight from the muscles and also muscle itself. This info all comes from a Anatomy and Physiology class I took a few months back. So I'm not full of crap. Just be careful if you're on Atkins. The odds of gaining that weight back may be extreme. The body will go into overload mode and start turning muscle into fat for conservation purposes. Think again people!!!! Just exercise and cut back on calories, watch carb intake. Stay in the range and you'll do fine. If you want a good place to monitor all food intake go to fitday.com .....it'll monitor all your intake for free. Good luck! | I've stayed to less than 20 for over a year and 10 months now. I'm in the healthiest shape I've ever been in. I sleep better, have better endurance and more energy! My body is also in better shape - muscle wise. Yes, I do exercise. I'm taking in about 1400 calories a day and drinking about 200 oz. of water - if I ate the carbs you and your anatomy/physiology class suggest I would gain a ton quickly. Everybody is different, needs are different, metabolisms are different. I have yo-to'd and burnt mine out! This is what works for me - and my doctor is happy. |

Rep Power: 28 | | hey all i'm doin it too for the past 5 days so far so still in the induction phase. ive been feeling pretty weak on this. first couple days i was doing under 10g of carbs til i heard it was supposed to be 20 lol! now i'm kinda in the 10-13g range i think. personally i think this is too low for me as i have lost all my energy and can barely do anything i need to get done during the day. so when does the energy come back? i would like to eventually move up to the 30-40 carb range and stay there. maybe a bit more, but slowwwly as i do not want to gain these pounds/inches back!
and i forget who only lost 10 pounds in a month so far on atkins? did you measure yourself? if you have been stixcking to it religiously, you should have lost several inches as well as those 10 pounds! are you drinking lots of water? especially with all the sodium we are taking in that is a must! and whoever said 175g of carbs a day, thats nuts! |
