Weight Loss Programs

Atkins, Fit for Life, Jenny Craig – there are almost as many weight loss programs as people who want to lose weight! Sharing our experiences here will help us all get a handle on the wealth of information — and misinformation — out there.

Zig Zag dieting

Does anyone do this, and does it work?

For example, your maintenance calories is 2200 a day.

Weight loss is - 500 so thats 1700 calories a day to lose weight.

So throughout the week you zig zag your daily calories to keep your body guessing:

Extreme Fat Loss Fat Loss Maintain
Monday 1408 1755 2194
Tuesday 1408 1408 1755
Wednesday 1690 2106 2632
Thursday 1408 1755 2194
Friday 1408 1580 1974
Saturday 1549 1930 2413
Sunday 1408 1755 2194

Does this work?

The science behind it is simple. You ward off the starvation response mechanisms by tricking in. You don't do chronic deficit. You time your deficits and "refeed" basically. Yes it works. I don't think it is necessary until a straight deficit becomes ineffective.

The closer you get to your setpoint weight and/or the further below it you go, the more tactics such as these you will need to implement to continue seeing progress.

I'm wondering if you wouldn't be better served if you posted in the 'On topic' thread or even 'The Harsh Truth' thread. I bet more people would see your posts there because this thread is for clubs.

Just mho.
