Rep Power: 13 | | 20 minutes equating to 180 calories seems a tad low to me. You must be either a very small person or going at it at a slower pace or its simply inaccurate.
Does it indicate the speed in KPH or MPH?
Have you decided on a plan of action? Such as calorie intake goals, workout ideas, meal plans and so forth? I suggest you read the stickies that you find relevant to your goals and possibly start a log and post up some more questions as needed.
Good day. |

Rep Power: 26 | | Usually ellipticals burn more calories than that - I know treadmills aren't as good at the calorie burning unless you are really running or have them set on an intense incline.
Can you up you revolutions on them - you know try to make yourself go faster?
I have an elliptical by Precor and usually I can burn double the calories on the elliptical verses the treadmill.
I like my elliptical, it's just that my feet go numb after 20 min., but usually I will do a 30 or 40 min. workout.
Kudos to you for just beginning on the elliptical and getting in 20 min.!! |

Rep Power: 6 | | I work out on the elliptical five days a week and although I've just started on my diet, I've already lost 7 pounds very fast, I think that the calories burned is inaccurate, I would say to go with how you feel after! I know when I get off my legs are BURNING and I know I've had a good workout! |

| My feet go numb too, I thought it was my shoes. Is that normal? |

I don't know why, and from what I've researched even the experts don't seem to know why. It's normal for me I guess. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Weight rope VS Speed rope? I've been jumping rope for about 3 and a half months. Since my body's endurance has improved and now I don't burn as many calories or my heart does nt beat as hard as it did when i first started jump roping, which type of jump rope should i buy to increase the intensity of my exercise and continue toning and losing fat
I understand speed rope strengthens reflex, while weighted ropes give you a better upper workout.
B
But which would burn fat and give a better intensive exercise?
Thanks. |

Rep Power: 15 | | | A weighted rope is significantly harder, you can tell a big difference. It wears out your shoulders though. Don't go too heavy or your shoulders won't let you finish your workout. |

Rep Power: 9 | | I personally have both, use speed for cardio ONLy days and the weighted one for weight days.. you can really tell a difference, i'd say try both out they aren't very expensive.
but i'd also like to see some goals.. numbers you say you aren't seeing as much with the speed anymore but how long do you do this? are you doing hopping on one foot, switching, double jumps, crossovers? it's taken me a long time to be able to do a lot of those.. but i notice that like switching foot to foot is like jogging and jumping rope which is a great workout, even my husband gets out of breath from it.
Anyway some goals would help us answer your question and sorry i didn't see it before :0 |

Rep Power: 11 | | | FitDay/Elliptical... Does anyone else on here also use FitDay to keep track of things? If so, and this applies, what do you use for a workout on an elliptical trainer under "Activities?"
Trying to keep track, but I'm having problems doing it without the exercises I'm doing on the list... |

Rep Power: 0 | | Sorry I've taken forever to say thanks, I kinda made up my mind about the jump rope before I checked for your answer. My opinion: Jumping rope didn't seem to do anything except give me headaches. I braved the heat and went back to my treadmill instead, which is now so much more bearable in the fall.
As for calories-- I should've worded that differently. I know how many calories I'm taking in because I've already approximated them for all the meals I eat, way back when I started. So now I know if I want spaghetti, I better have only eaten a certain amount of other things. The calories aren't in my mind when I decide, only the portions. Probably not the best way but it's worked so far.
I dropped the time back to 55min and am now running at my maximum speed for much longer. Unfortunately I can't increase the speed any further, because my treadmill is broken in the front and the belt is slipping to the right. I've even had to ditch my shoes and opt for 6 pairs of socks since the shoes were thumping on it too hard. Any faster and I'm sure that'll be the end of it. I have no money for a new one.
Anyway, thanks again. It seems like it's taking longer to lose weight nowadays but I've dropped another 17lbs since I was here. Yay!
