Rep Power: 0 | | Ok… hey, no drug out there will give you the nice sexy 6 packs that exercise can…but if you need food tips… there you go.
Stay away from dairy products. No milk, no yogurt, no ice cream, no whip cream, no butter, no cheese. All of these products make your lower abs look flabby and inflated.
Don’t eat anything with too much spices or salt, prevents water retention. Stay away from sodium, same reason.
Flush your system… I’ll get you a good healthy diet for few day… and try to revert from Carb based metabolism to protein one… I have to dig out some more info on the subject later on and send it to you.
Ones you do that, you will still eat as much (quantity ) as before but it will no longer stay in your tummy and make it look chubby instead it will bust your energy levels so you can perform 3 sets of the ab routine.
I hope this is what you meant by having to eat something, if you are only waiting on drugs… its not going to work.. I did see your question about weights and cardio in a different subject, but I’ll give you few tips on that one later on. |

Rep Power: 10 | | muscle does burn fat, but the above example is very good because many people will do as many crunches/situps as they can every day and get frustrated because they aren't getting the six pack. You have to understand what your body is doing when you workout. And, building strong abs isn't going to burn fat from your stomach ... it burns fat IN GENERAL ... so, you are actually much better off to work out your larger muscles (quads, chest, etc) as they will burn the fat more effeciently. |

Rep Power: 20 | | | Core Strength Necessary It's true that you can't see a six pack set of abs under a layer of fat. But there are still reasons to work on getting fabulous abs; good core strength supports your spine and back. A weak core makes you susceptible to lower back pain, muscle injuries and poor posture. A strong core:
- enhances good posture
- helps prevent lower back injury and pain
- helps in most everyday actions involving your core - sit, stand, walk, etc
Here's an excerpt from an article on About.com: Strengthen Your Core Core Muscles Explained:
Transverse Abdominis (TVA) - Wraps around your spine for protection and stability. Target Exercise: Plank
External Obliques - On the side and front of the abdomen, around your waist. Target Exercise: Arm Sweep
Internal Obliques - These muscles lie under the external obliques, running in the opposite direction. Target Exercise: Crossover Crunch
Rectus Abdominis - Extends along the front of the abdomen and is the 'six-pack' part of the abs that becomes visible with reduced body fat. Target Exercise: Crunch
Erector Spinae - A collection of three muscles along your neck to your lower back. Target Exercise: Back Extension
Some links to core exercises in another about.com article: Strengthen Your Abs and Get Beyond The Six-Pack - Ab Workout
And here's another great article from the Mayo Clinic: Core exercises: Beyond your average abs routine - MayoClinic.com
And of course our friends at sparkpeople have exercises as well: Exercise Demonstrations
Sorry for all the links instead of the actual exercise tips. These other sites explain it better than I could! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Keeping fit and keeping flat As Patty said, there is EVERY reason to work out and keep fit.
Getting those muscles firm and conditioned is a great start..
You don't have to wrestle with heavy weights or use machines if you don't want to - you can use Pilates equipment or Theraband.
I had the most disgusting flabby underarms about a year ago, and then I began regularly (daily) spending 5 minutes doing resistance excercises with 2 simples pieces of Pilates equipment (just a hand squeeze and a spring loaded item that you can squeeze together with your arms or your legs.).)
Well, guess what? I no longer have those tell tale middle age underarms! I have developed pleasantly muscular uper arms, nothing too crazy, and firm under arms. Not bad for 5 minutes only.
In addition to the underarm boost, I also have succeeded in losing a lot of the sloppy, flabby skin covering my abs. (I don't quite have the six pack I long for, but then I don't really work at it hard enough) . I do however, have a respectably flat stomach and the overall muscle tone in that region is much improved.
I do 60 sit ups daily - 20 each of three different positions, and this really helps.
And, I have been taking a product called SlimNow (by CanPrev), which contains Hoodia and some other stuff (no ephedrins) and have lost 9 pounds over 4 months. that's two sizes down for me!
I believe that regular workouts, a heavy physical work day (I landscape), sensible eating and lots of water help me a lot. |

Rep Power: 12 | | I noticed that I lost most off my stomach when I was doing a lot of treadmill work and when I walked to and from the gym for my workouts. That's when I saw most results. Ever since I stopped walking to work and my work outs haven't been as frequent, my stomach has started to get bigger again. |

Rep Power: 0 | | "Food to watch out for: milk, milk products, and too much fruits will make your lower abs look bloated." ... I also find that refined carbs make my tummy bloated as well. I think another important thing in the quest to lose body fat and get a nice toned tummy is to drink a lot of water. I find that when I'm drinking my water and skipping the "bad" carbs, that my tummy is pretty flat ... if I only I could tone it Your exercises sound really good and I'm going to have to try them all .. I do some already but not that intensly and not all the ones you mentioned - this should be fun!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | Moderation is a good way to go Drinking lots of water is good, but don't over do it - you want to drink slowly and make sure you drink when you are thirsty (of course). I recently began using a drink called Amino Vital - it is great for those days when I am going to be working really hard and long in the sun - and I find it picks me up (no caffein). It acts like Gatorade, but has some supplements in too.
I think one of the things we have to do is approach our diet with a view to being moderate. Fewer carbs and calories, more protein - yes, but the right ones.
I have to stay away from all milk products, because I have a lactase intolerance, so that makes MY choices easy. |

I just find that refined carbs bloat me .. I see it right away .. it's too bad cause I love them :P I mentioned water b/c I retain easily all over my body and so by drinking water throughout the day, I find it keeps my tummy flatter and I actually feel lighter and have more energy .. even with water, moderation has to be practiced. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. |

The same "rules" don't work for everyone. I drink water like crazy when I'm outside, working in 40C temps, but have recently learned that the Gatorade style beverages are better for you in that particular instance. It works for me, but might not work for another person.
I have my fruits down to three daily including my glass of juice.
Speaking of nasty carbs - I had a bad urge to eat a Caramel Pecan Hagendaz in July. Boy it sure tasted good - half an hour later my tummy was bloated and I was feeling ill. Oh well, I only do that once a summer (sigh)
I AM really pleased with the SlimNow pills which are keeping the appetite within reason, and I don't get the same cravings for bad stuff nowdays.
Must be decreasing, since I bought some really slinky jeans size 28 and fit into them ............ |

Rep Power: 0 | | to be able to see your abdominals with any kind of definition you simply need a lower body fat %, get down into single figures and you're there
obvious getting there isnt as simple as it sounds, i wont make a massive post as most things have been touched on already however keep this in mind
good core strength is better then a weak body with low body fat %
single figure body fat % for good definition
no amount of tlaking will get you there, ifu really want it, work for it! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
