Weird Outcome

Ok, am new to the site and this is my first post but i have a question about a problem i have. Ill start off with the info first, I am 18 years old and weigh 210 and am 5' 9" tall...so for my weight i actually dont look fat but kind of chubby here and there. I have never really exercised before or at least nothing serious that would have any effects as i give up pretty quick until recently i decided to really get in shape(or lose a few pounds atleast) before i leave high school. So for the past two weeks i started running 25-30 minutes 3 times a week followed by lifting weights another 5-10 minutes finished by 40-50 sit ups. In average this is around 45-50 minutes of exercise 3 times a week...also i decided not to change my eating habits as i have sustained an average weight of 200-210 since i was like 16.

Now with that in mind i was pretty sure one of the following was going to happen...

1. I dont lose any weight but perhaps turn some of my stored fat into a little bit of muscle...or just stay the same before i started the excersise.

2. I would lose somewhere between 1-5 pounds

Instead what happened was that i gained weight...around 2 pounds. So again, i dint change my eating habits...i made sure i ate around the same amount of food or less every day and when i ate less it was not by much.

So i would like to know why did i gain weight instead of losing weight...?

If my exercise routine is the reason for this any help would be appreciated...links to plans or routines that would work more effectively would also be appreciated. I am also willing to increase my routine to 5 time a week if need be and my goal is to weight around 170-180 lbs by mid april(which is 2 1/2 months away) if possible or as near it as i can be.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but almost everything you are doing is "wrong". Even your question is wrong, in the sense that it is subject to several logical fallacies. Rather than having to type out everything all over again in the explanation, I'll point you to the stickies here and on the sister site (training.fitness.com) and encourage you to figure it out for yourself (which is, in fact, what stickies are for. ).

If you have questions about anything you've read, I'll be more than happy to answer, but not when it seems obvious like you've made no effort (other than this post, of course) to educate yourself at least a little.

Having said that, I think it's great that you've decided to get things done and are already out there doing it! That's fantastic. Do some reading and you'll be on your way in no time.
