Smile What are some of your favorite exercise moves?

And when I say favorite I mean what you can tolerate and possibly have a little fun while getting results.

I need a little help coming up with some exercises to put into a program of my own creation. I’ve got legs down but could use some more suggestions.

I prefer things that don’t use equipment or just a kettle bell.

I personaly love the thinng where you sit on the floor with your legs slightly bent and you lay back about 45 degrees and you twist back and forth. Great for obliques!

Morning,

My favorite exercise moves are karate kicks (I do 800 a day generally, 100 on each leg with 4 different kick styles) - I was quite surprised at how much energy that burns up and how much I perspire when doing it.

The good thing about this is I can put on the TV, watch Human Weapon, and exercise away....time does go by rather quickly.

I also enjoy Taebo, P90x, Crunch Go-Go, and good 'ole fashioned becoming-one-with-the-iron (ie, weight lifting).

Data points,

Barbara

Anything that requires prolonged, consistent muscle action is going to be aerobic and do the trick. It's no different than your normal activities that are deemed aerobic relatively speaking.

************

To the OP, what you can do with kettle bells is limitless really. Resistance is resistance.

Things you might not ordinarily think of:

hand stand push ups (not sure how strong you are)

burpies

hindu pushups

dips

front and side planks

you can do a lot with a pull up bar too, and they're relatively cheap and easy to install

pushups and varying angles by raising/or lowering your torso relative to foot position

supermans

There's a lot you can do. The person who trains at home really needs to become an artist. Realize weight is weight and however you can think to apply this resistance safely will have a positive impact. The problem is, there's only so much room for progression without using external loads. And progression is critical beyond a certain point.

Very true. But it really did surprise the heck out of me when I first realized this. In hindsight, it's utterly obvious.

It's amazing how the mind can condition itself to think, if it's not what the general public thinks is aerobic, it's not aerobic. I have to get a heart monitor and see how high my heart rate goes during this - fingertip pulse shows it at around 140 BPM.

Enjoy,

Barbara

Thinking inside the box is an epidemic, unfortunately.

Upper cuts. I don't know why, I love them.
I also like walking lunges. When I do them outdoors, the few people that are out there probably think I'm crazy.
