walking

I have a question regarding walking.
I started walking about a mile a day I now walk about 3 miles a day ,I was told that Im wasting my time doing this if I do not reach my target heart rate,

I am very discouraged if this is fact.

IS what Im doing helping me or not.
Just curious

anything you're doing if it's more than what you were doing previously - helps...

How long is it taking you to walk those 3 miles? you might want to concentrate on your speed and getting it faster... but movement is good...

Any movement is better than none, and if you started out just walking one mile daily and are up to three, good on ya! For myself, I absolutely need to get *DRENCHED* in sweat in order for my workouts to really make a difference. I walk/run for an hour per day on my treadmill.

HTH,

that's a very quick pace for most people ...

Raising your heart rate is a good thing - cardio is to strengthen your heart as well as burn fat... How are you checking your heart rate.

There are a few threads around on target heart rate - reaching your target heart rate isn't a necessity for fat loss...

So since you don't know what your target heart rate is - you dont know if you're reaching it or not...

You might be coming close.

I seriously suggest you spend some quality time with the stickied threads around the forum..
