Rep Power: 0 | | | Turbo Jam question I just started using Turbo Jam today. I've done the learn and burn twice since that is the only thing I can really keep up with right now, even though I need to take a minute or two break in the middle. My question is I heard you're supposed to really feel it in your abs but I feel it more in my upper legs. I think I'm doing the bass position correctly (shoulders back, tail bone under). Maybe I'm not. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Another question I forgot about... I have pretty big man boobs. I've started doing pushups a lot. For instance every time I get off the couch or computer chair I do 10-20 push ups. I know that is supposed to help but does any of the moves in Turbo Jam target that area as well?
As you can tell I'm pretty new to all this fitness stuff. Sorry for the dumb questions.

Rep Power: 12 | | No such thing as a dumb question....or at least yours isn't dumb. I don't have an answer for you but saw your introduction thread and figured I'd respond here as I have the opposite problem of you...I don't have man boobs or even girl boobs. Losing weight robbed me of the boobs I did have and I would like to learn what sort of exercises I need to do to build pectoral muscles. For some reason I suspect that both of us will need to do similar exercises to build the underlying muscle...but I'm not sure.
Anyhow...welcome dude! |

Rep Power: 10 | | I have been taking a Turbo Kick class that is taught by a certified trainer. It's the same as Turbo Jam.
To answer your question about feeling the burn in your abs....the burn you feel will be in your legs buddy! It's all about using your legs and arms, and when you stand in position yes make sure your shoulders are back, your tailbone/pelvis tucked under and squeeze your ass. pulling in your abs tight.... AND GET LOW!
Just remember ...
A less than perfect workout is better than no workout!
And for the manboobs I'm not sure what to suggest....I guess just cardio and strength train and I'm sure you'll see some results that you'll be happy with!
Best of luck to you!!! |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Thanks for the info. I really feel it in my legs like I did after doing squats when I used to play football. In my arms I don't feel it so much. Maybe it's because I'm a drummer so my arms are used to a workout. |

Drumming is a full body workout...unless you're drumming to back up the church choir. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | I mostly fool around with "simple" stuff like Boston, Journey, Foreigner, ect. So it's not too much of a workout unless I play some Metallica or Rush type songs. I'm not in a band or anything so it's just me fooling around with my set when I get bored here at home. Which is quite a lot. Maybe 3-4 hours a day. |

As for the man-boobs. Lose fat. As you lose body fat you will lose it from the chest as well. Unfortunately it is up to your body where the fat loss comes from in the same way as it is up to it where it is deposited. You can't spot lose it. Keep up the resistance training though because it will help with your overall fat loss. Also when you get that fat off of it you will have a more muscular chest. |

Rep Power: 0 | | Well I hope that it's just because I have some large pecs under them, at least that is what a couple people have told me. Don't ask how they know.
Still though I'm worried since that is the area I'm most self conscience about. |

Seriously, I never realized how much work drumming is until I met my BF. Drummers are hidden behind their drum kit and you can't really see just how hard they work. |

Rep Power: 6 | | | Turbo Jam? I have been contemplating on whether I should get the Turbo Jam DVD[s] or not. I have been reading up on them and the reviews seem pretty good and it looks like fun so im *thinking* about trying them. Amazon is selling a whole set with the hand weights for about $66.00 but before I buy them I was wondering if any of you have ever tried Turbo Jam and if it's even worth it? I have 3 workout DVD's. ALL Denise Austin. I have her Pilates on, the cardio one and the pre-natal workout DVD. I haven't used them that much and have owned them for awhile [can you tell I get bored with DVD's?] but the Turbo Jam looks like it could give me a really good workout!... Something different in my routine other than just running. |
