I believe I've hit a plateau. What's the best thing I can do for myself now?

Hello again. I've recently succeeded in losing 31 pounds over the past six months. I'm at 152 lbs now and am enjoying/hating the fact that my pants don't fit me anymore. I've been losing about a pound every two weeks for the past month, and so I believe I've hit some sort of wall. I'm sure you guys have a term for it.

The problem is that my damn gut is still there. It's definitely not as big as it used to be, but it is undeniably there.

My exercise routine consists of 45 minutes of cardio (stationary bike) five days out of the week, followed by 15-20 minutes of body weight exercises plus dumbbell curls every other day. I'm sure there are about a billion different things I'm doing wrong, so I'd like some input.

(the two body weight routines I use come from trainwithmeonline.com)

I'd like to know the best way to get rid of the excess baggy fat that is now almost entirely located in my gut. I never had manboobs, but I'd like to get rid of the fat in my chest too.

My only conditions are that I can do them at home. Gyms are out of the question because of a mischievous medical problem I won't go into here. If the best method involves some equipment I need to buy...provided it's not a home gym, I'll probably be willing to purchase it.

If it's at all possible to get a specific workout or even a link to one, that would be wonderful too.

By the way, thanks for all the advice you guys gave me months ago. It really helped. Apparently I'm kind of hot now.

Oh, I'm a 22-year old male that is tremendously short...about 5'5" or somewhere thereabouts. It's been years since I've gathered the courage to measure myself. I have no serious medical problems to speak of.

You say a mischievous medical problem, but no serious. Most gyms have bathrooms, if that's the situation... =P

If its just a problem area, just use patience. Also, maybe re-evaluate your calorie deficit? What is your calorie intake right now? What is your maintenance level?

Has the weight loss stalled, or just the problem area is still there? Are you losing inches elsewhere?

It could just be a stubborn area. Unfortunately, spot reducing is not possible (without surgery, scarring, and probably regret)

Great job on the weight loss so far.

You need to switch up your cardio. One week bike, one week a treadmill or job/walk outside. Here is a link to what I have been following since Sept I am down 42lbs and still have more to go. http://abcbodybuilding.com/fat_loss_workout.pdf

Ellipticals are my favorite! You can do less and lose more calories. If you enter your current weight, it gives you a more accurate estimate of calories lost, but in general, for me, it's 1 hour = 400 calories.

I have a 2 in 1 eplitical bike/cross trainer, and noticed that on the calorie counter on the eplitical bike, compared to other machines i.e rower or treadmill is massive, off memory, 10 mins cycling on the eplitical bike burns about 200 calories, where as 10 mins on a rower burns about 50 - 60 calories. Are eliptical machines the best way of burning calories or is it just the computer (calorie counters) not being anything close to accurate. Just thought i would ask because it would hardly seem worth using the rower, if i would have to spend more than twice the time to burn the same calories!
