Every time the commercials for P90x are on I sit and watch them wondering if I'd be able to do it. But it intimidates the hell out of me. I know they have all those people tell their stories and the girls that have tried it stuck with it, but I'm just unsure. I don't know where I'd even put a pull-up bar in my apartment, or where I'd keep extra weights sitting around at.

It intimidates me a ton too, but I have been looking into the new Chalean extreme program cause it doesnt need a pull up bar which would be a ton better for my apartment situation.

I have the pull up bar hanging but truth be told... I can't do 1 chin-up! (My 3 year old son can do 9 unassisted!) So for now I'm using a band flipped over a railing as they show on the DVD to modify it. If you don't have a bar or anywhere to hang a band, you can modify it with other dumbbell back moves.

When I first saw P90X I was totally thinking there was no way I could do it and I'd have to build up just to start but you really can do it at your own pace and ability. I'm addicted to it now! I've been doing P90X for 3 weeks. The first week I was using no weights or 5lbs and giving maybe 50% effort. This past week I've used 10-15lbs and given maybe 80% effort. I really feel a huge difference already in my body and losing a jean size in the first 2 weeks was worth the effort!

If you're considering it, give it a try! I really thought I wouldn't be able to do it and everyday, I'm doing it! My husband actually just called from work to tell me he took the book with him to work and after looking through it and seeing me doing it, he’s going to start this week. I think it’s so cool because he has a Master’s in Kinesiology and in the past he’d see me doing DVDs and roll his eyes at me but with this, he’s on board.

P90X Rocks

Don't get discouraged. The first couple of weeks were tough for me, but I just passed day 50 and I've never had such great results. So far I've lost 14lbs and 6% BF...in less than 2 months. Your body adapts to the workouts and the nutrition program quickly and you gain strength in no time.

I have not posted enough on this site to be able to list a URL, but if you e-mail me to the address below, I will send you a link to my Day 1 and Day 43 pics and more information on P90X.

If you still aren't convinced, you could started with Power 90 In-Home Boot Camp, Tony Horton's original program that led to P90X.

JerryMac@BeachbodyCoach.com

I love the program so much I became an Independent Beachbody Coach..and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about P90X, Power 90 or any of the other programs.

I think I want to try this P90X dvd program. How much do these dvds cost? Should I buy them off the commercial or can I get a better deal?

Thanks

Jim

P90X Update

Attached are my updated photos. You can purchase P90x online for $119.95. My friend used "global_temp01" as a promotion code and received 10% off, I'm not sure if it still works.

Whether you need to lose 50 lbs or the last 5, this program works great. As mentioned by others, there's probably nothing magic about it, but if you are looking for a complete workout and nutrition program this one is effective.

Let me know if you have any question...now or when you start the program.

I haven't posted enough to send the store link, but if you send me an e-mail, I'll e-mail it to you.

P90x in a few months...

I am really excited to try P90X, but I'm coming back from injuries so I'm using Jackie Warner's workout DVD. It's got weights with bursts of cardio, Upper/Lower and Core routines. I'm doing my own "muscle confusion" by working different parts, and gaining strength so I can keep up with the P90X DVDs when I get them. I have the original P90 right now, and once I master that, then I'll get the harder one. I'm not really out to lose pounds, but inches and lower body fat% so I think P90X is the way to go.

JerryMac. Wow great results. Thanks for the post. Did you follow the workout for 60 days straight. What is the sequence? A friend said I could borrow these dvd's from him but he does not have the workout instructions.

P90X Results

Thanks Jim, Yes I followed both the exercise and nutrition plan throughout the 60 days. The first couple of weeks were tough, but after that I really got into the groove. I'm able to bring a higher level of intensity to the exercises now and am seeing great results during these last 90 days.

Here are the workouts and what is included in the package. Tony Horton is the trainer and he shows various ways to do the exercise depending on a person's level of fitness:

The P90X system includes:

3 Guides to get you started!
- P90X 3-Phase Nutrition Plan
- P90X Fitness Guide
- "How to Bring It" video

12 highly intense workouts
- Chest & Back
- Plyometrics
- Shoulders & Arms
- Yoga X
- Legs & Back
- Kenpo X
- X Stretch
- Core Synergistics
- Chest, Shoulders & Triceps
- Back & Biceps
- Cardio X
- Ab Ripper X

Tools to keep you motivated
- P90X Calendar
- FREE Online Support Tools

I was a bit nervous about the investment at first, but when I compared it to what I was paying for a gym membership and considered I could return it for a full refund I figured I had nothing to lose. I can't provide the link to where you can purchase it yet, because I have not posted enough on this site. However, below is my e-mail, if you are interested, feel free to e-mail me and I will send you a link and a promotion code for 10% off.

In the meantime if there is anything I can answer for you feel free to ask...

If that 10% off that you "aren't sure if it still works" is your referral code, you could just say that. Getting people 10% off isn't a bad thing. I assume this because the way you are wording your posts is a sales pitch, and also your e-mail is beachbodycoach.com. If I'm incorrect, don't take it the wrong way, just seemed like that to me (and im usually right about these things.)

I think I mentioned this earlier, but p90x is extremely intense. You can just do some of it if you can't do the actual program. Its actually a pretty reasonable price for the set of DvDs. The meal plan and all is comprehensive and good. More detailed than anything I found online. I did not do the program. I was not fit enough, and then I started doing strength training with free weights.

If you are completely out of shape, its not really the program for you. You could make your own program using some of the DvDs, but remember that you are then paying for a lot extra.

I give this warning because this is a weight loss site, and I would assume most members are like me. You need to lose more than 50lbs. You aren't trying to get rid of that last bit of weight to get really cut. p90x is really to get super cut.

I'm almost 100% sure you can get individual cardio DvDs from beachbody. You would need to look at the prices to see if its worth it for you.

Not trying to pitch

Jeff,

I'm not trying to pitch...the reason I don't know if it will work is because it's not something I got from Beachbody, I did it by searching rebate sites. This had an 87% success rate. So far, those that have tried it have had luck...I just don't want to give the wrong impression that it will work...it might not...or they may stop it.

If I were you, I would spend some time on the Beachbody discussion forums. There are thousands of people using it, and not all of them are just trying to lost the last 10 pounds to get supercut. A lot of people started the program very heavy....and have lost a lot of weight. One round of P90X won't make them supercut....but like my coach, some people are on their 6th, 7th round...making continual progress.

I'm sure you could probably get a used set on Craigslist, or the infomercials might offer a deal.....doesn't really matter where you get it from. If you need a complete, structured program that includes both exercise and nutrition programs, and you want the opportunity to observe others doing the exercises, this is a great program. The online community, coaches, tools, etc...just make it even better...although not neccessary.

Jerry

Hey Everyone,
I started this post for P90X and was moving along great but I let my silly head get in the way. I started out with the Lean Program (1 of 3 programs on P90X) and completed Phase 1 with great results but then I thought, I need to build more muscle and started Phase 1 of the Classic Program. Well, mentally I felt like I hadn't gotten anywhere since I was technically at day 1 all over again and I got frustrated and lost my momentum. Then I got really sick with a sinus and ear infection (thought only kids got those!) and then went out of town for a few days. After thinking it through, I decided to jump back on the Lean Program where I left off and pretend the 3 week hiatus didn't happen I just completed week one of Phase 2 and I feel great. Luckily in the 3 weeks off, I maintained my weight so I didn't fall into a cycle of beating myself up for gaining back.

I do believe everyone has to do what works for them and some may not do well with P90X but I do think it's a great program for more people than they target. Every move can be modified to suit you. The thing I love best about P90X is that you get addicted really fast! And since you do a different workout everyday you never get bored and the days and weeks fly by.

Off to P90X
Alison

I'm curious, do any of you supplement p90x with other exercise? I just started a couple of days ago with the classic program, but I don't know if the cardio videos are going to be enough for me. I mean, they're difficult and I sweat, but I think I might want a bit more.
