Rep Power: 0 | | Thanks OHD. I've been going 6 days a week. But I feel like I should be doing more or something, I think I'll try it.
BTW, I don't think I ever congratulated you on your weight loss. Congrats!!!! |

I was loosing at a really good rate with Curves alone, but noticed the big difference in my leg measurements once I started walking...which was EXACTLY what I wanted. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Yeah, walking is probably the best thing for legs, or one of the best things. My legs, thighs and butt are huuge. So the more I move these legs, the better for my legs. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | i went to visit a curves today. i've always liked the idea, but never actually been in one.
i'm wondering for those of you that go/went to curves, are you still active there and are you still getting results? have any of you lost a significant amount of weight..or any weight, i should say?
i'm just looking for things i can do to keep me going and hold me even more accountable. right away when i walked in, the music was soundin' quite good and i was ready to go. so yeah - just wondering how everyone's doin' with that! |

Rep Power: 11 | | I received a two-week trial to Curves as a gift so I went tonight for the first time. I liked it but I didn't feel like I worked out very hard at all.
Can anyone tell me what the "Advanced Workout" is? Like how many reps on the machines? I thought about stepping it up a bit.
I figured I would try to go often for the couple weeks and see about some sort of high weight loss. *grin*
Thanks! |

Rep Power: 0 | | I'm not sure what the Advanced Workout is. Ask the people that work there, as it can change from center to center.
When I first started going to Curves it wore me out, but now my body has adjusted, and its really not hard at all. So I found that I have to really workout with intensity to make it worthwhile. I go as fast and as hard as I can, and its really effective.
Make sure that they show you what to do on all the machines, and then do it as fast and as hard as you can. Curves is really good, but its only as good as you make it.
Good luck!!! |

Good luck!!! | Thank you so much! I asked the woman about the Advanced but she said she didn't want to tell me until I had done this one a few months. I told her I had been running and biking for years so she knows about how athletic or whatever I am.
She did take me around the circuit twice and taught me all the machines. So I'm good that way! My heart rate was too high every time though....
Thank you! |

Thank you! | My heart rate stays too high most of the time. They told me its because I'm not breathing right or something. I don't even bother checking it when exercising anymore, I just continue exercising. lol.
Anyway, Curves may not be the best for everyone. If you do think its not enough then you should definitely join a gym that will be beneficial to you. |

Rep Power: 0 | | | Curves Fitness Center Question I went into a Curves workout center yesterday to see about signing up. I am not sure if this is something I should do. I really liked the atmosphere (women only-and social), however I'm not sure if it is worth the money since I can use the gym for free at my work (Air Force). Can any of you tell me of your experiences with Curves and if it's worthwhile in the long run or not? Thanks! |

Rep Power: 217 | | a brief discussion of curves happened in this thread http://weight-loss.fitness.com/topic...bad-bread.html
earlier today
my belief is its fine as a starter gym for someone who's got no gym confidence or experience and it gives you a lot of hand holding and tlc... that isn't for everyone... if you can go it alone then i'd stick with a real gym...
cruves isn't a long term solution though - you might like it for 3 months to get you started - then move on.. |

Rep Power: 10 | | | Beware The "Curves" Contract Just an FYI for anyone who is a member of Curves or is thinking about joining.
When a person joins Curves, they have to sign up for a year contract but once your year with them is up, they don't just automatically terminate your contract. You have to provide something in writing stating why you do not want to renew, I'm assuming this is because they want to try and talk you into staying. However, that isn't the problem, if they want something in writing, that's understandable enough.
The problem is, this notice doesn't go into effect until 30 days after you give it to them. For example, if you join Cuvres June 3rd 06, (that means your Curves payment should come out of your account on the 3rd of each month) and you write up your termination agreement on the June 5th 07, they will still charge you for July 07, therefore, they get an extra months payment out of you simply because you got your termination statement in two days late.
To me, this is riduculous. There is no way it takes Curves computer system 30 days to terminate your contract. Also, it's weight loss organization it's not like it's an apartment that they need 30 days notice to re-rent and/or clean up. There is absolutely no reason why they (or any other such organization) would need a 30 day notice other than them trying to talk you into staying every time you come in for that last 30 days and/or trying get more money out of people who may have forgotten to get their notice in on time.
If you are a member and aren't going to renew your contract with them and want out once your year is up, give them a letter in writing 30 days before your year is up but be advised, they will try to sell you into staying.
If you're thinking about joining, keep this in mind and don't forget about that 30 day, writen notice when you want to quit. If you don't give them your termination letter or give it to them early enough, they're going to keep taking money out of your account weather you use their service or not.
