Question So........

I'm aware that you cannot target any one area of your body for weightloss.

However, nutrition-wise for your abs is it enough to create a calorie deficit? OR does one need to cut down all 'fat' from the daily food intake? I was wondering how important that is.

Even though I have a VERY proportionate weightloss/gain i.e. I gain/lose weight everywhere, I do get a feeling that my abs are the most stubborn.. !

Would love to get inputs on this so I can make changes if needed!

THANKS!

Dietary fat isnt what makes you fat...

It's too many calories consumed in a day.

Your body is going to lose weight where it's going to lose weight...

there's a bunch of posts on this very topic...

based on it's genetic predisposition (how's that for a fancy word) your body gains and loses weight in certain places... Some people it's the butt, some it's the boobs, other's it's the gut... just keeping consistent behavior is what gets the results.

I tend to have a harder time losing in my thighs more than anything. I look at my mom... thats where she stores her fat too.

I have found though, because my belly did get pretty fatty and not as toned as i liked... that laying on my back and putting the exercise ball between my ankles... hands under my rear end... and lifting and lower my legs, have REALLY improved my lower abdominal strength... i am losing love handles too.

its pretty sweet. That may or may not help. Of course cardio burns the fat... but starting to tone is a good idea and that ball.... wow i HATE doign those.... but they really really help me!!

.

From a medical statement, the body does "drop extra fat" where it wants to. And it "adds extra fat" where it wants to as well. Sad to say but true. Thus, one cannot "medicaly" force their stomach / belly area to be smaller then its other fatty body parts.

In some cases, one can make their fatty belly area `appear less` then it is. For example, if one has a sloppy posture (forward bent upper posture), walking with a straighter vertical posture does reduce compresson on the belly area. Thus, one "appears" there's less fat in the gut area. And with better vertical body shape, one gets less back aches during exercises as well. Thus, one exercises longer. Which, allows the body to burn even more calories - faster. This is why many many millitary folks walk with vertical posture. It really isn't to look proud. Walking with vertical back makes the body pains less. Especially during their daily 5 mile jogs and other intense physical tasks.

Being "too fat" for many years, my lower back now has a natural body shape of bends outwards on the stomach and bends inward on my lower back area. Typical inverted "S" body shape that many middle age older men have. When I shave or dry off after my daily shower, I take my shirt off, stand sideways infront my my long mirror and take note of my body posture. I then "force" my chest out and up, suck my stomach in and force my lower back back out. Forcing into a more veritical "stand tall" body position. Hold this position until my 5 minutes task is completed. Yes. Very hard thing to do for 5+ minutes. By repeating this step day after day, that large natural "S" shape in my back is becoming less and less every month. And, my stomach / belly area is appearing less and less outwards as well. And while I sit in my office chair or driving, I try to sit with more "vertical back" position as well. Sometimes while driving, I even do the "chest out / up", stomach in and lower back out exercises as well. Thus, hoping to re-shape my body's natural body posuture - over the long run.

As a suggestion, give this "stand proud" exercises on your body as well. While shaving, while riding an elevator (when alone), while jogging and even while driving (alone). Over time, these exercises may improve your body's natural body position (to make one's belly area "appear" smaller) as well.

Hope this helps as well...
