What type of stuff do you like to do?
For low cost if at all there's always running..BUT not a lot of people love it I have do admit (I do).
Depending on where you live you can hike, swim, rollerblade, ride, play tennis, b-ball etc.
I love kickboxing but that's going to cost, I love martial arts and boxing.
Some boxing places don't charge that much but again, you have to love it!
Hmmm...I'm not a gym person but I run a lot and pay places that only offer classes instead of a whole gym. If you find a running group that can also be tons of fun.
I'm not sure about the cost, but I do know that most communities have a lot of team sports you can join, and I think they're usually relatively inexpensive. Volleyball, basketball, hockey, baseball... whatever you think you'd like most! A lot of gyms or similar organizations, like the YMCA have pools that have open public times, and almost always have a lap lane. You should be able to pay a couple bucks per visit, or get a limited pass for just the pool or whatever.
I would suggest dropping by a Community Center and check out their listings/postings to see what's available, and also stop by local gyms to get a price list from them too.
There are always free things to do, like going to the beach to swim, or playing frisbee in the park, but a lot of them are either unreliable, or rely on your own incentive to get something organized (but then again, I prefer team sports and organized activities, so you might like something different)
Hi there, do you have someone that you could exercise with? What kind of climate do you live in? I was very regimented when I started to only walking, but when I lost some weight I became interested in more things. I've even mixed stuff up with a variety like hiking with a camera, rock climbing (safety gear of course) and biking with a stop at a river or pond for a swim dip. The sky is the limit as long as your heart gets to pumping, and many of those things only cost you time.
Ahh northern cali, so then its beautiful of course. Scenery is a big plus for outdoor exercise. Lots of hills or even mountains? If I lived there, I would be hiking for sure, any good trails near your home? Mountain biking maybe, you can find a good used bike for cheap or a new no name brand at walmart for $50 or so.
I agree with everyone on getting outside! Hiking never bores me. So much to see. There also must be some regular public trails for walking or jogging. Biking in the outdoors is great. And how about trying some other classes at the gym?
I live in a really bad town, its a millitary based town (airforce base)
its super high crime rate and not many hills (cheap land) you would think a military base would make the sorrounding area safe...
