Neither is really better or worse. Both are excellent sources of exercise. Definitely don't limit yourself to walking if you feel you could be running.

.

Some people can walk for miles and miles and it has no long term impact on their body. Some people can jog and jog and have very little impact on their body. re: blown knees or cardio overload. Many of us exercise to our body's "comfort level" and hold that exercise routine. Especially in the long run. Thus, do the exercise (re: walking, jogging, combination of both) that is "most comfortable" to your specific body. Don't overload your body with "too much" because somebody said "jogging" is better. Always keep this factor in mind.

----------

To burn the "average" 55 calories in "Fruit, Fresh: Apple - small, with skin, raw, edible portion", you could do any of the following:
- 15 mins of walking
- 6 mins of jogging
- 5 mins of swimming
- 8 mins of cycling
Source file: CalorieKing - Calorie Counter - Calories in Fruit, Fresh: Apples, with skin, raw, edible portion

Based on above "calories burn off" scale, jogging has less "burn off" time when compared to walking. But... It doesn't necessary mean that jogging is best for your specific body. re: Too much jogging and it blows one's knees apart.

Hope this helps...

I don't see where it says walking is better. She just says she walks and likes it. That's it. Did I miss something?

It depends on what kind of walking, running you are doing. I couldn't be bothered going for a walk unless its up a mountain, much more intense with the incline. And I wouldn't bother walking on flat ground, I would rather jog, increase the intensity a bit more.

Depends what your are aiming for and your level of fitness.
