Wieghtloss Slow?

First let me introduce myself. I am Jason. I wiegh about 170 currently. I was about 200lbs in high school and 5'4". When I turned 22 I was sick of being large. I started to run and got up to 5miles everyother day and did wiegh training on the other days. I took an office job and got lazy. I was at 124 when I started and now am the current wieght I listed. I have been on the same plan as I was before except I am watching my calories better. It seems the only thing I am missing in larger amounts of protien. The first time I was eating wings almost daily and was losing about 10lbs a week. This time I am eating over all heathier but am only losing about 5 lbs a week. The one thing I am missing is protein. I find it hard to eat enough meat though out the day. I was thinking about taking soy portein. I work about in the morning most of the time. I have read people drop breakfast and have a shake before and after working out. I was wondering if this would help with the fatigue I feel the next day and as a catalist of shedding more weight and building more lean muscle. And about the safety of that much protein in a day. According to my calculations I am missing about 20g a day. Would 50 be to much? I still have my running stanima. That returned fast. I started 3 weeks ago with a 30 min 3 mile and last night was 22:33 3 mile.
Thanks for any input....if I am just impatient you can say so....

Jason

I don't have any good advice about the protein because I'm a vegetarian and I know I never get enough protein! I think your dropping weight really fast. 5 pounds a week is alot. In fact, you really should only be losing 2 pounds a week. I know I'm a woman so losing weight is different for me, but I didn't start losing weight until a month into my diet and exercise routine. Just keep doing what you're doing. It sounds like you're in really good shape. Just remember that muscle is heavier than fat so maybe you're not seeing as much change on the scales this time around because you're building your muscle back up.

One more thing, since you're feeling tired, you might want to try eating a healthy carbohydrate before your workouts for a good energy burst. I'm sure eating more protein will help as well. I hope this helped!

SarahPT is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi,
Did you mean 5 pounds a week, or .5 pound? 5 pounds is actually a little too fast. You're porbably losing muscle mass.

You're an excellent runner. 22 minutes for 3 miles is great!

Sarah
