I am completely new to this forum, and quite excited to be a part of it! I recently read that in order for me to lose 2 lbs a week I must burn 7000 calories a week? The article backs this up by saying that 1lb = 3500 calories. I'm just starting out on my weight loss journey, and am a little confused,
thank you!! |

YOur looking at it the wrong way. Threads change their position based on who and what time a post was added to them. SO you may go 35 pages into a forum and find an interesting topic, post something in that thread, and the next thing you know, Its one page 1 again. right at the top. About 3,500 calories adds up to about 1 pound. This applies whether they are food calories coming in, or calories (burned by exercise) going out.
If your going to use exercise to lose weight by calorie burning your only doing half the battle. You could exercize 'till the cows come home, Until that calorie counter reads 3500 and still not lose anything. becouse your not counting the calories you've put INTO your body. only the ones your taking out. You'll never lose anything. If you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound. If you use up 3,500 calories more than you eat, you will lose about 1 pound in weight. you GOTTA count 'em both ways. otherwize it dosen't work. Say you have a diet of 2300 calories per day, and during your workout you burned, 1000. leaving a differeance of 1300 calories. subtract that from the weight of 1 pound (3500) and you've got how many calories your ahead for that day. Now you've done that same thing for three days in a row and each day you "save" 1300 caloires off your total. congradulations, you've lost 3900 calories, or a little over 1 pound. keep it up and you'll hit your goal.
Personally I can't stand all that calorie counting. But if thats your thing, Educate yourself on how it works first and continuously. You'll learn new, different and helpful things every day. This forum is a great place to ask questions, find answers track progres and more importantly, make friends to help with encourement. there is always a shoulder to lean on and always someone there to help.
Good luck.
Nice puppy by the way

Rep Power: 0 | | | Phew! OK! Thank you for that That was a lot to take in...still trying to understand, ahhaha...I think I get it, lol. No WONDER you don't like all that calorie counting stuff, if you look at it like that. I definitely don't feel like a I burn 1000 calories in a day though, which sucks. I also read somewhere that it will take about 6 weeks to show any results.
Thank you, Tjay is a little cutie. She will be happy to hear you think she's nice |
